Team Kennet Quadkids were back in action for the first league match of 2025 at Andover. In the Under 11 girls there was a team of 9 athletes. In the75m sprint, Praiya Foreman was quickest 11.60s, Hazel Balch 12.10s and Matilda Saunders 12.30s. In the long jump it was Ines Field who leaped furthest for Team Kennet with 3.29m, Saunders 3.23m and Foreman 3.14m. In the longer run event, 600m, Foreman clocked the fastest time 1:57:1, Saunders behind 2:08:4 and Marlie-Jai Proctor 2:10:4. Darcey Scaplehorn threw the furthest in the vortex 26.99m, close behind Saunders 26.19m, Field 22.25m. On the day, the girls team finished in 1st place with Foreman taking 1st place individually with 205 points, Saunders 2nd 204 points and Field 3rd 194 points. Also taking part Olivia Kwit, Darcy McCurtin and Isabella Chapman.
The Under 11 boys had 7 athletes taking part and it was Alexander Browning who was fastest in the 75m sprint clocking 11.40s, Harvey Baker 11.50s and Chester Bailey 11.90s. Baker leaped the furthest in the long jump 3.42m, Bailey 3.18m and Browning 3.12m. Bailey ran a quick 600m to finish with a time of 1:59 with Baker 2:07:0 and Lenny Wyvill 2:07:2. Baker threw 37.21m in the vortex, Wyvill 28.02m and Bailey 25.56m. Overall, the U11 boys also finished in 1st place with Baker taking 2nd place with 232points and Bailey 3rd place 215 points individually. Also taking part Idris Gaye, Sebastian L Clarke and Jacob Williams.
Team Kennet travelled to Exeter for the first match of the Season in the Southern Athletics League Division 3 south West match, hoping to get of with a good start to the season which they did.

16 wins came on the day, with many more being second places, the mens long jump being a great competition saw Joe Osler break the clubs long jump record and winning with 6.55m and Peter Saunders had to take second in the B string with 6.33 in a very strong competition. Both teamed up in the Triple Jump, to take a Double win with Saunders leaping 12.47 and Osler 12.32.
The Mens Throws secured a great amount of points for once, In the Shot James Hills throwing 9.84 and Steve MacLean 8.66 saw the first double win of the day, both on a high teamed up again later in the Discus to do it again MacLean 28.86 and Hills 28.73 for their second Double. The Hammer saw two second places from MacLean and Graham Chambers, while in the Javelin two third places from Saunders and MacLean. The high Jump in the mens saw Osler take 2nd place with Stuart Bladon winning the B string, Bladon took part in the Pole Vault later to come 2nd.
On the Track the day started with the 400m hurdles both Sam Randall and Nick Bull took good second places in their Strings, Josh Willock came so unlucky to within a whisker in both 100m and 200m A strings to settle for second places clocking 11.7 and 24.1, Tom Hills taking fourth B in the 100m and Randall taking same spot in the 200m B. Two second places came in the 400m Randall 54.7 and Bladon 55.4, while the middle distance races club athletes Bull, Simon Hockaday and Ben Schiffer – Harte had to tackle all these events from 800m upwards scoring mainly third places.
The Womens section faired better, Sunita Sisodiya winning the 100m on the line in 13.6, and she won the 200m as a non scorer. Anna Montagne came 2nd in the 400m 64.4 with Cailtlin Nowell 3rd B string. Two good second places came in the 800m with Bethan Philp 2.36 and Rosa Lawrence, better came in the later 1500m Emily Faulkner coming 2nd and Lawrence taking the B string win. Faulkner had to settle with third place In the 3000m, but in the 2000m steeplechase Philp came home in 3rd place, Kira Angell came a good 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a new best time of 18.9, on the field, maximum points came from the High Jump Angell clearing 1.45 and Philp taking the B string. The Triple Jump both Anais Taank and Georgina Bradford came 2nd places, while the Long Jump Montagne had to settle for 3rd place and Nowell 2nd B string, again it was the throws that scored high, a double win in the Discus Alisha Bradford 26.89 and Charlotte Booker 21.44, Another Double win in the Hammer Deborah Montgomery 28.10 and Booker 27.84, Shot Montgomery came 2nd 9.01 and Bradford 3rd B, in a strong Javelin competition Montgomery came 3rd A string.
The relays at the end of the day faired well, in the Womens 4×100 it was a close affair, Girls coming 2nd with 54.0 while in the 4x400m they had to settle for 3rd place.
The Mens, Both teams came 2nd in their races clocking 48.57 and 4.01.69

In scorching temperatures 22 wins were notched up by the Yellow Vests, It was Heptathlete Haley Steward that was the clubs best athlete on the day clocking up three wins, first was in the Shot with a 10.59 throw, followed straightaway in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.10, not long from this she won the B string 400m in 63.1, Anna Montagne took the 400m overall with a superb timed run in 61.8.
Bethan Phelp added another A string win in the 800m with a great sprint finish to come across the line in 2.27.0 and Georgina Bradford winning the B string in 2.45.6
The Hurdles events Both Kira Angell and Caitlin Nowell teamed up, Angell taking two 2nd places in the A string 100mh 19.1 and 400m hurdles 75.2 and Nowell taking two B string wins in 21.2 and 78.8
Angell teamed up with Montagne in the High Jump both securing 2nd places Angell clearing 1.45 and Montagne 1.50, the Triple Jump saw two more 2nd places from Steward 9.06 and Carys Cox 8.65.
The faster track races the Sprints 100m Montagne took 2nd 13.2 and Sunita Sisodiya also 2nd 13.4, in the longer 200m Steward took 2nd place 27.5 and Susodiya taking 3rd 30.4.
The womens throws secured high points yet again, double wins came in the Javelin Pheobe Hoaen 34.88 and Deborah Montgomery 25.70, The Discus saw a win from Charlotte Booker 23.94 in the hammer Alisha Bradford had to settle for 2nd 30.40 and Booker won the B string 29.58
The mens section started well, on the track two wins came in the 400m hurdles with Daneil Hockaday and Nick Bull, both teamed up again in the high Jump with Hockaday taking 2nd A string and another win came from Bull in the B string. Josh Willock then won the 100m in 11.3 and Oliver Bazin taking 2nd in the B string. Willock made it a superb sprint double in the 200m 23.0 and Daniel Hockaday securing a 2nd B string 24.9.
Points from the 400m upwards were hard to get securing 3rd or 4th places from Mitch Poustie, Ben Schiffer-Harte, Simon Hockaday and Nick Bull, the Long Jump secured two 2nd places with Willock 6.11 and Bazin 5.45 in the Triple Jump Willock cleared 11.91 for another win and Schiffer-Harte2nd B string.
The throws scored well despite most the club main throwers were away, in the Hammer Stan Chambers and Simon Hockaday both came 2nd places, this was matched again in the Discus with Chambers and Bull, both Chambers and Bull teamed up again in the Javelin for another two 2nd places, and again two more 2nd places in the Shot from Chambers and Schiffer-Harte.
Team Kennet’s Hayley Steward struck two medals in Cardiff, Wales at the weekend in the South West Indoor Track & Field Championships, she also claimed two new club records in the process.
In Hayley’s favourite event the Shot she claimed a gold medal with a throw of 11.36 and in the 400m she came home with a silver clocking 63.62
Team Kennets Zoe Allen secured a Bronze Medal at the South of England
Championships held at Lee Valley over the weekend, Zoe in the under 13 girls
took part in the 60m sprint winning her heat in 8.78 and then went faster in
the final clocking 8.70 to claim her Bronze, she also just missed out on
another medal in the Shot throwing 7.73 to take 4th place
Zoe also took part in the Lee Valley Indoor Minithon, Zoe claimed two new Club Indoor Records, dipping under 30 seconds in the 200m clocking 29.25, and in the 600m she ran a fast 1.54.13, she also took part in the Shot to throw 7.98.
Team Kennet were in action again in the second round of the Wessex Young Athletes League at Swindon on Sunday. In a tough match and slightly reduced club numbers TK still managed rack up over 400pts to finish 2nd place on the day
Two Team Kennet records were broken on the day, Firstly Rory Barclay-Watt broke the clubs 1500m under 13 boys record and winning the race by nearly 200m with a time of 4.43.9 keeping him 9th in the UK rankings. Later in the day Harry Booker who holds several Wessex League Record broke the club Discus Record in the under 20 mens age group throwing 35.37m.
The Under 15 Girls won their match again and top the age group table, a double win came early in the day in the High Jump from Twins Neve and Mia Wright both clearing 1.40m, Another Double win came from Alanna Smith 30.92 and Claire McGonnell 30.34 in the Javelin, both girls throwing over 10m in front of the rest of the field, again in the Throws another Double win came in the Shot Zoe Allen throwing over the 10m mark for the first time 10.04 and Annabel MaClean 9.21, The long jump saw two 2nd places in their strings Octavia Thomas 4.32 and Carly Chisholm 3.93. o the track Kirsten Fraser took full control to win the 1500m in 4.55, in the shorter 800m Emma Davies had to settle for 2nd A string 2.31 and Alanna Smith took a B win in 2.41.7, the sprints saw some good competition Zoe Allen in the 100m 14.0 took 4th place, and matched that in the 200m 28.5 and the B string Thomas came 3rd B in the 100m 14.1 and 2nd B in the 200m 28.6. The 4x100m Quartet of Allen, Thomas, McGonnell and Chisholm came 3rd in 56.7
The under 13 Girls took a age group win as well, Double Win came in the Shot from Eliska Simpson 6.64 and Suki Humphries 5.94, in the Discus only 60cm separated 4 athletes, both TK Girls coming 2nd place in their strings Simpson 16.55 and Humphreys 16.34, The high Jump saw Bethany MaClean take the win 1.24 on count back and Amber Stiles coming 2nd B with 1.15. on The Track best result of the day came from Ava Brade in the 100m B string coming 2nd in 14.8 and 4 x100m team coming 3rd 61.2 made up of Brade, Maclean, Erin Gosney and Emelia Lunn.
The under 17 women a double win came from Charlotte Absolom 14.5 and Aimee Dickson 15.1 in the 80m Hurdles, both teamed up in the Shot Dickson taking 2nd A 8.99 and Absolom winning the B string 8.44
The under 17 men just missed out by 2 pts on an age group win, again it was the field that scored high, in the Long Jump Matt Jones and George Mackie won both their strings 5.17 and 4.74, both teamed up in the High Jump Jones clearing 1.65 and Mackie 1.50 to take another double win, in the Throws Oliver Ford was fired up throwing 13.16 in the shot to win, taking the Discus win earlier in 41.49, With Tom Wells winning the B string 25.69, and in the Javlein Ford had to settle for 2nd A string 40.29 and Brandon Carter winning the B 36.08 . On the track Toby Clark came 2nd in the 1500m 4.35.9 and Noah Kemp 2nd B 5.03.8, Kemp also tackling the 800m finishing 2nd
The 100m Both TK boys Euan Avery 12.5 and Mackie 12.9 came 2nd, Oliver Humphrey won the 100m hurdles 14.8
The under 15 Boys Seb Simpson threw well winning his Discus 36.88 and Joe Hoaen 21.2 taking the B win, Hoaen won his B Javelin 21.81 with Simpson taking 2nd A string 23.03, and in the Shot Simpson came 2nd 9.61 and Hoaen making it a hattrick of B wins 5.47. George Down won the Long Jump with 5.82 just missing the club record and Edward Mackie taking 2nd B 4.18. Mackie won the 80m Hurdles best result on the track with good 2nd places coming from Down in the 200m 25.8 A String and Jacob Avery 14.2 in the B 100m.
TK struggled to get u13 boys out but with the four of them they earned the club good points, Ethan Kuijten won the B string 1500m 5.24.9, Elliot Murphy came 3rd in the 800m 2.27 and Will McDonald 4th B string 2.56 best on the track, best on the field came from Elliot in the B string long jump coming 2nd place 3.46
Team Kennet were in action in the final Oxford Junior Athletics League of the Season at Tilsley Park in Abingdon.
Kenechi Akosa in the under 15 Boys smashed his own personal best in the 300m by setting a new League record and club record and ranking him in the UK top 20, with 37.3, he was just beaten in his 200m earlier in 24.0, but team mate James Simmons won the B string in 26.3, Simmons took part in the 100m coming 6th in 12.9.
Two third places came in the long Jump Simmons 5.08 and will McDonald, Akosa decided to have a go at the shot and threw a massive 10.39 to win the A string and Turkay Altuntas also threw over 10m to win the B string in 10.11, Altuntas then came 2nd in the Discus 31.33, and McDonald won the B string with 17.92, both teamed up in the Javelin with McDonald throwing 31.71 was only good enough for 4th place, and Altuntas came 3rd in the B string.
The under 13 Boys lost their match by just 4 points, a double win came in the Javelin Noah Lauder-Clarke 32.11 and Ben Daley 23.08, The discus saw another double win with new comer Berkay Altuntas throwing 21.52 and Rueben Kuijten 18.61, I the Shot Altuntas had to settle for 2nd place 6.72 and Kuijten winning the B string 6.68, in the long Jump Josh Ladds came 3rd with 3.87 and Lauder-Clarke matched the placing 3.38, on the track Harry Smith tackled the 1500m to come home in 5.26.4 for 3rd place, in the shorter 800m both boys Oskar Larkin 2.46 and Lauder-Clark 3.22 were both 5th in their strings.
In the sprints Daley ran 15.4 for 5th and Josh Brian 15.0 4th place in the 100m, and in the 200m Ladds 31.6 6th and Brian 31.6 4th placed.
Caden Thomas took part in the u17 age group in the 100m 12.7 for 7th and 200m 5th place in 26.0, Isaac Mitcham ran in the 1500m for 2nd place in 4.35.7.
The Under 13 Girls saw a double wins the 800m Emerald Hill Sawyer clocking 2.35.7 and Ella Cronk 2.49.6, both teamed up in the high Jump with Hill Sawyer taking part in the her first competition in the high jump, stole the show with 1.35 to win overall, Ella Cronk made sure she won her B string with 1.20, Both again teamed up in the Long Jump, Hill Sawyer couldn’t do the hattrick of A wins had to settle for 2nd place 3.85, Cronk made sure she got a hattrick of wins in the B with 3.72. Anna Hall took part in the 3 throws Shot coming 3rd 5.30, Discus 4th 12.67 and her favored event the Javelin coming 2nd 17.75.
The under 17 women had a good day to come 3rd in their match Mia Wright cleared 1.53 in the high Jump to win, Clare McGonnell won her Javelin 31.07, and Annabel Maclean won her discus 25.46. In the Shot Maclean came 2nd 8.58 and Wright won the B string 7.23, The Long Jump McGonnell came 3rd 4.30 and Wright matched this in the B string 3.59. On the Track McGonnell took part in the 200m to come 2nd in 28.1.
Finally in the under 15 girls, Bethany Maclean won the Javelin in 22.55, in the high Jump Leilah Gaye came 3rd with 1.45 and Charlotte Bailey won the B string 1.30. The Long Jump Emelia Lunn lept 4.17 for 3rd place and Sophie Moores 5th placed in the B string.
On the track Lola Mitcham ran in the 1500m clocking 5.46.8 for 3rd place, in the shorter 800m Bailey clocked 2.34.7 for 3rd place and Chloe O’Riordan came 3rd B 3.05.8. The Sprints saw Lunn take 2nd in the 300m 46.7 and a fantastic race in the B string saw O’Riordan win in 48.6 the shorter 200m Moores had to settle for 6th 30.7 I the A string and Sophie Cooper made a welcome return to finish 2nd B in 30.0, the 100m sprint Moores came 5th 14.3 and Cooper 4th 14.2.
Team Kennet took part in the first of the Oxford Leagues at the weekend, with a much depleted squad than normal the athletes secured several wins on the day.

In the female section Ellie Armstrong won her shot with a 9.15m throw, and later coming second in the High jump. Sophie Wheadon in the under 15 girls secured a wis, in the Discus 25.11, and two second places in the Shot and Javelin, Chloe Collins won her B string Shot. Francesca Young made a welcome return to finish 2nd in the long Jump 4.34 and pick up a massive best time in the 300m for 3rd place 45.4. Rebecca Thomson came 2nd in the 1500m A string with twin Sister Georgina taking a B string win, in the Shorter 800m Annelise Gale took 3rd place. The sprints saw Ellie Kerslake finish 3rd 14.6 and Chloe Collins coming 2nd in the B 15.0, both teamed up in the 200m finishing 5th and 3rd. The under 13 girls started the day with a win from Amiee Dickson in the 70m hurdles 14.4. Kirsten Fraser had to settle for 3rd in the 1500m and Eve Brown took the B string win, the Shorter 800m a superb run from Annabel Todd won by nearly 100m in a time of 2.31.3, Todd came 3rd in the Shot, the Discus Dickson came 3rd A and Charlie Pennicott 2nd B.
The boys saw a very low turnout, In the under 13 boys 800m two third places came from Noah Kemp and Kian Darcy-Masters, on the field Oliver Ford came 2nd in the Shot, taking first place in the Discus, and Kian Hockaday coming 2nd in the Javelin.
Team Kennet had several athletes compete at the English Schools Finals held at Birmingham over the weekend.
Ben East stole the whole meeting athlete of the weekend as he broke his own UK Record for the Javelin for the second time this season throwing 66.95 in the Junior Boys age group, on the way he also set a new English Schools record and a new club record to claim a Gold medal.
In the same age group Harry Booker was involved in a very close Discus Final securing a Bronze medal Booker threw 42.16m.
In the Girls Junior age group Sophie Wheadon took part in the Discus to throw 30.04 to finish 5th out of 21.
Stuart Bladon took part in the 100m Hurdles in the Inter Boys age group, he came 5th in his heat in 14.01, but clipped a hurdle hard to slow him down, Bladons time just wasn’t quick enough for the final.
Team Kennet Athlete Nathan Gillis took part in the English Athletics Senior Championships over the weekend in a very hot Bedford Stadium, Nathan made it to the 800m Final where he finished in 5th place with a time of 1.52.47 just running out of steam in the last 50m.
