How You Can Help
With our ever growing success, comes a greater demand for more volunteers at the club. If you feel you could spare some time to help with any of the various jobs, we would love to hear from you. We are proud of the fact we are a close knit club with some excellent support and we hope you would like to get involved and play your part, no matter how large or small that might be, in helping Team Kennet during one of their most successful periods in a number of years.
Below is a list of some of the important positions or vacancies we have at the club that may be of interest of you. Your help in any area would be greatly appreciated. If any of the vacancies/positions appeal to you, please contact the club secretary via the bottom of this page.
-
Coaches – As with any club, you can never have enough coaches. With our ever-increasing membership of athletes, we’re looking to further widen our coaching structure to accommodate new and existing members and ensure everyone receives quality coaching. No previous coaching experience is required, and there are several coaching courses throughout the year. The club is happy to cover the costs of these courses for any volunteer interested in becoming an athletics coach and joining our coaching team.
-
Reception – We’re always looking for volunteers to help in the club office on training nights. This involves welcoming and registering new members and being a friendly first point of contact for the club.
-
Refreshments – During events such as our primary school QuadKids and indoor Sportshall competitions, volunteers help with refreshments. These efforts play a big part in generating funds that support the club.
-
Athletics Officials – Another vital part of the club is our officials. They help ensure that fixtures run smoothly and fairly. We’re always keen to find more people interested in officiating for the club at home and away matches. In many league fixtures, track and field officials even score points towards the match total, making their role even more valuable. We welcome anyone who wants to try officiating field events, timekeeping, or track judging. You don’t need to be qualified right away — you can give it a go and see if it’s for you. There are plenty of official training courses available to help you gain qualification later.
