Hampshire Grand Prix

Team Kennet had several athletes take part in the Hampshire Grand Prix at Basingstoke Wednesday Evening.

Under 20 Stuart Bladon took part in three events the 100m clocking a fast 11.83, he broke the clubs Discus record pushing it up slightly to 36.53 and then lept 5.93 in the long jump.

Oliver Bazin took part in the under 17 age group clocking 24.8 in the 200m and in the long jump 5.73, just back from English Schools with a medal Pheobe Hoaen took part in the Javelin throwing 38.23
The under 15 age group Amiee Dickson ran in the 300m clocking 46.7 and in the 800m a personnel best from Noah Kemp with 2.23.78 while on the field events Oliver Ford threw the shot to a new best of 10.50 and in the Javelin 33.52 throw.

Swindon Open

Two Team Kennet athletes took part in the Swindon Open track Meet on Sunday, Father Phil Murphy V40 and Son Eliot Murphy u13 took part in both 800 and 1500m races, Phil coming third in his heat of the 800m in 2.13.95 breaking the club Vet 40 record and Elliot running 2.34.66 in his 800m, Both teamed up together in their heat of the 1500m with Phil winning the heat in 4.43.8 another club record for Vet 40 and Eliot coming third with 5.09.7

County Championships

Team Kennet’s Hayley Steward took part in the Somerset County Track and Field Champs at the weekend, she took two County titles in the Senior Age Group, firstly in the Shot with 11.46m throw and then the Long Jump 5.20m.

Basingstoke Open

Several Team Kennet athletes took part in the Mid Week Basingstoke Open on Wednesday.

In the under 13 age group Emerald  Hill-Sawyer earned herself a personnel best alongside Amber Stiles in the 800m clocking 2.44.21 and 2.44.81 respectively. Emerald also claimed another P.B in the 100m first time she achieved under 15secs with a time of 14.94. Amber cleared 1.30 in the High Jump.

Eliska Simpson took part in the Shot throwing 7.47 and Discus 21.03.

Seb Simpson took part in the under 17 age group throwing the Shot 10.81 and Discus 32.75, in the older age groups Jonathon Simpson clocked 13.09 in the 100m in the M45 group. Charlotte Booker took part in the Discus as a Senior throwing 22.84 and Harry Booker threw 36.52 in the u20 Discus.

UK Record

Team Kennet’s Ben East threw himself in to history at the weekend at the UK Javelin Festival held at Loughborough. Ben only 14 years old and in the under 15 age group threw a massive 66.17 in the Javelin to break the UK record for the age group, and one of the longest throws in the World, Ben is being coached by Luke Angell also from the club who also has a England Vest in the Javelin says that Ben could throw 70m this season.

Team Kennet also had a few other throwers taking part Pheobe Hoean in the under 17 women throwing 34m and Kian Hockaday in the u15 boys throwing just over 30m

Wessex Quadkids Match 1

Team Kennet’s Quadkids team finished in 2nd place in the 1st Wessex League match at Basingstoke with a score of 1334 points behind hosts Basingstoke and ahead of Salisbury.

For the girls, Bethany MacLean topped the yellow vests and came 3rd overall with 212 points. Erin Gosney scored 184 coming 5th overall with Leilah Gaye 134, Tillie Bell 117 and Millie Philips 117 the other scorers.

For the boys, Charlie Todd on 187 just pipped Harry Fenner on 186 with the pair 10th and 11th overall. William McDonald on 175 and Evan Alderman 139 were the other scorers.

In the Vortex throw, Bethany threw 28.49 to win overall with Erin’s 22.01 coming 3rd for the girls and Eloise Ross throwing 14.00m . Harry threw 35.03 to win overall for the boys with William throwing 23.77m and Jonathon Grozin 18.50m.

In the 600m run, Bethany’s 2.02.5 was 2nd overall with Erin 2.13.2 and Leilah 2.24.3 for the girls. The best for the boys were Charlie 2.06.3, William 2.16.9 and Evan 2.19.6.

In the 75m sprint Bethany’s time of 12.0s was 4th overall for the girls with Erin 12.1 and Tillie 12.8 just behind while Charlie, Harry and William all recorded a time of 12.3s for the boys.

In the Long Jump, Bethany 3.08m was again 4th overall with Erin 2.95 and Tillie 2.74 for the girls. Charlie’s leap of 3.33m was 5th overall for the boys with Harry 3.10 and William 2.76.

South West Inter Counties

Team Kennets Hayley Steward competed for her home county, Somerset, over the weekend in the South West inter Counties match at Exeter. Steward in preparation for next season to get back in to Heptathlon took part in three events, her 400m clocked a personnel best time of 60.29 that saw her finish 2nd, she also finished 2nd in her two other events, firstly the Shot Put breaking her own club record and personnel best throwing 11.63 and then the Long Jump 5.14

Kettering Open

Team Kennet’s Athletics Javelin coach Luke Angell, took to the road, to take part in the Kettering open in Northamptonshire on Saturday to continue his fight against fitness and came away with a well-deserved 2nd place and a season’s best of 57.91, behind his former colleague from Loughborough Benji Pearson. Luke has consistently made progress this season to improve his throwing fitness since injuring his back when at Loughborough a few years ago.
