Team Kennet will see a record number of club athletes take part in the English Schools Athletics Finals next month.
Six Club athletes will compete on 12/13 July at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham

The Berkshire Schools Championships also saw a record number of TK athletes take part and many came back as Berkshire Schools Champions.
The Inter Boys Ben East threw 60.51 to win and is tipped to win the English Schools title, Harry Booker also won the Discus 40.06.
Senior Boys Stuart Bladon won his 110m hurdles in 14.88 while in the Junior Boys Oliver Ford just missed out on selection to win his Discus 31.48 but in the Javelin Liam Cawley won his Hampshire Schools event with a 46m throw tipped for a medal in the finals.
The Inter Girls Sophie Wheadon won her Discus 33.91 and Phoebe Hoaen her Javelin 40.65 both girls stand a good chance getting on to the Poduim, Anna Montagne came 2nd in the High Jump 1.61 and same position matched by Ellie Armstrong in the Shot 9.69. elsewhere in the same age group Georgina Thomson was 7th in the 800m and her twin sister Rebecca came 7th in the 1500m, Amy Russell came 5th in the final of the 200m 28.7 and in the 100m Faye Saunderson came 4th 13.3 and Izzy Kerslake 6th both in the final.
The Junior Girls Gemma Moon came 2nd in the high jump 1.45 and Annalise Gale was 10th in the 800m.
The Senior Girls Charlotte Booker came 3rd in the Hammer.
Junior Boys Kian Hockaday was 4th in the Javelin and finally in the Inter Boys Ethan Haines was 4th in the 400m final 54.3 and Ben Lawrence was 2nd in the Javelin 41.56
Team Kennet were involved in a very close match in their last junior match of the season in the Oxfordshire Young Athletes League at Horspath on Sunday.
On the day final results saw Team Kennet just win which was good enough to win the League overall and take their fourth junior league match win in a row.

The under 13 girls were at full strength, but had to settle for second place on the day, Kirsten Fraser and Eve Brown set a high standard for the day in the 1500m as a double win came with superb times of 5.09.8 and 5.37.6. The Sprint Hurdles just before saw two second places from Claire McGonnel 12.9 and Annabel MacLean 13.3.
The 100m Zoe Allen came 2nd in 14.2 and Emma Davies matched this in the B string 14.9, the 200m saw two third places by Allen 29.5 and MacLean 31.5 and in the 800m Davies came in third 2.42.5 and Maddie Baker Third in the B string 3.00.6
The Relay Quartet of Allen, Davies, McGonnell and MacLean came 2nd in 59.2
On the Field, double win came in the Javelin McGonnell 26.38 and Eve Brown 24.25, Allen had to settle for 2nd in the A shot 7.75 and Brown taking 3rd B 5.02, in the Discus MacLean came 4th 17.47 and Fraser a good 2nd 14.41 in the other string.
The Long Jump Octavia Thomas lept 3.87 for 3rd place and Neve Wright 3.66 for 2nd b string, the High Jump Wright came 4th 1.25 and Fraser 3rd B string 1.20
The under 17 women won their match again with a strong squad as all season, Double wins came from Phoebe Hoaen 40.59 and Anna Montagne 23.31 in the Javelin, Sophie Wheadon 32.19 and Hoaen 21.85 in the Discus and Wheadon 10.38 and Montagne 9.34 in the Shot that saw maximum points. The long jump Amy Russell came 4th 4.05 and Ellie Kerslake 2nd B 3.68
The day started with Anna Montagne taking 2nd in the 80m hurdles 12.6, in the sprints Russell came 4th in the 100m 13.7 and Izzy Kerslake 14.1 for 2nd place B, the 200m Russell came 5th 29.2 and Hoaen taking 2nd in the B string 30.2.
The 4 x100m quartet of Russell, Hoaen, Izzy and Ellie Kerslake came 2nd in 56.2.
The under 15 girls were very short of athletes for this match Annelise Gale came 3rd in the 800m 2.36.1, the 300m Aimee Dickson came 5th 46.4 an Gale 3rd B string 50.8, Dickson came 3rd in the 75m hurdles 14.2 in the sprints Ella Ward coming 5th in the 100m 14.5 and 7th in the 200m 30.8, the Shot Dickson was 4th A 6.70 and Gale 3rd B string 5.13
The Under 13 boys also sent out a very strong group of athletes, but were just beaten in to second place, a superb double win came in the long jump by George Down 4.73 and James Fenner 4.03, more Double wins came in the throws by Seb Simpson in the Shot 8.21 and Sam Dennis B string 7.25, Simpson making it a double in the Discus 27.71 and Dennis 20.72 in the B, The Javelin saw Fenner throw 28.55 and Joseph Hoaen 23.30 for another double, William Appleby lept 1.15 in the high jump for 6th place.
The Track didn’t fair so well Doen had to settle for 3rd place in the 100m 13.8 and 2nd in the 200m 28.6 A strings, Edward Mackie came 3rd B in the 100m 15.6 and matched this in the 200m 32.0
The 800m Hoaen came 5th 2.51.9 and the 1500m Jacob Woods 4th 5.25.4 and Kian Darcy Masters 3rd B 5.48.7
The relay quartet of Down, Mackie, Fenner and Hoaen came 3rd 61.0
The under 15 boys had good competition as they came 4th in their age group, Jonah Briggs came 6th in both his 100m 13.3 and 200m 28.6, Matt Jones came 3rd B in the 100m 13.5 and Noah Kemp came 3rd in the 1500m 4.54.7 and matched this in the 300m 48.5, best result in the field came in the high jump with two very good 2nd places from Matt Jones and George Mackie both jumping 1.45, Oliver Ford took the only win in this age group on the day in the Discus 32.58 and had to settle for 2nd places in the Shot 11.03 and Javelin 33.65 and Noah Kemp took 3rd B in the discus 15.81, The Long Jump Jones came 6th with 4.71 and Briggs 3rd B 4.04
The under 17 men could only field 3 athletes Oliver Bazin 12.0 and Ethan Haines 11.7 teamed up in the 100m both coming 2nd place, again they teamed up in the 200m Bazin 2nd in the A string 24.9 and Haines winning the B string 24.5, for the third time they teamed up in the Long Jump Bazin 2nd A with 5.28 and Haines taking 4th B 4.36, Alex McLaughlin came 3rd in the Discus 27.31
Team Kennet had three athletes compete in the under 20 South of England Championships at Bedford on Saturday.
Ben East came away with a Silver Medal in the Javelin in the men’s category throwing a personnel best and breaking his own club record with a throw of 61.34m, keeping him 4th in the UK rankings, in his first year in this age group. Harry Booker just missed out on a medal in the Discus finishing 4th with his best throw his opener 35.16 which gained him a personnel best and new club record as well. In the u20 Ladies Phoebe Hoaen finished 5th in the Javelin throwing 39.14m
Team Kennet hosted their annual Nite of the Mad Miles on longest day of the year in superb conditions celebrating the 20th year of the event.
The event this year saw 5 races and 93 runners taking part.
This years event saw some very impressive times set all round.
Race 1 was the Girls u9s and u11s combined, a strong field off 22 runners saw two athletes break away Ella Larkin u11 and Praiya Foreman u9, over the last lap and half Ella pulled away and took a superb victory in 5.56, she is the first under 11 girl to break the 6 min barrier, next home was Praiya who ran a superb 6.26 to hold on to 2nd place and take u9 medal and both athletes top their own age group top 50 best times over the event. Third place was Quinn Joyce who ran exactly the same time 6.26, in what was a close race saw 4th place Ella Mcdonald 6.26 and Penelope Lyth 6.27 for 5th place.
The under 9 and u11 Boys saw 18 starters and first home was Samuel Atkins who went out to win straightaway in a solid run he clocked 6.02 to go 2nd in the top 50 leaderboard, 2nd home was Finn Sanderson 6.27 and third placed was Malik Gaye 6.35, the first u9 was Gethin Thomas 6.43.
Race 3 was the under 13 and u15 girls, only 14 starters, and again like the boys race before Isla Clare went straight out to take the win in a fast 5.40.5, 2nd home was Charlotte Bailey 5.55 with emerald Hill Sawyer just behind breaking the 6 min barrier 5.57.
Race 4 saw 20 starters in the under 13 and u15 Boys, Ethan Kuijten went straight out to lead all the way around the 4 laps in 5.10 to record a 2nd place in the top 50 leaderboard, 2nd home was Max Adams 5.27 and third place went to Harry smith 5.35.
Finally Race 5 had all the other age groups from u17 through to vets ladies and Mens, The Mens side saw a great battle with Casey Warwick just getting the better of Jonjo Stiles recording 5.19 and 5.22 with Third place going to Thomas Bailey 5.34, in the ladies section a really fast time from Gemma Jones earned herself the win and also take 2nd place in the top 50 Leaderboard, 2nd place went to Martine Stiles 6.14 and 3rd Kathryn Saunders 6.32
The most Improved award went to Penelope Lyth by knocking of one minute on last years time, very impressive difference.
Several Team Kennet athletes were in action over the last week and some of the end of season track and field open meetings.
Penelope Lyth attended the Oxford Midweek open, the final round for the season competing under floodlights in the 800m and finished 2nd in the U13 girls category.
Turkay Altuntas won the shot with a throw of 12.95m at the Radley Open Meet. Theo Nightingale was 2nd in the High Jump with a new PB 1.82m. Chester Bailey entered the Quadrathlon finishing in 4th place.
Team Kennet’s Stuart Bladon took part in the UK multi Sports Events Championships over the weekend at Sheffield, in the under 17s Heptathlon. Comprising seven events day 1 saw Stuart finish the day in eight place, clocking 7.55 in the 60m sprint for a new personnel best, leaping 1.86 in the high jump and 5.85 in the long Jump later saw him clear 3.46 for a new club u17 indoor record in the pole vault, Day 2 lifted Stuart up with a fast 8.79 in the 60m hurdles, throwing the shot 11.11 and then running the 1000m in 2.52.47 to earn Stuart a 4th place overall out of 26 athletes, setting a new personnel best and club record points tally of 4488.
Team Kennet coach and athlete Deborah Montgomery added more silverware to this years tally, in the UK Masters Championships held at Lee Valley Deborah came 2nd in the veteran 50 age group in the Shot throwing 10.22 and the came Third in the Hammer with 32.52.
Club coach Simon travelled to Lisbon to do the Lisbon half marathon over weekend coming home in 1.58 with some 40000 taking part.
Club chairman Nick Bull was Seaton in Devon’s 10000th park run finisher since November 2016. Nick came 22nd in the event on the day.
Team Kennet struggled in the last match of the Southern Athletics with a much depleted team due to a few drop outs on the morning of the match at held at Poole.
On the day there were some outstanding individual performances the Mens Javelin Luke Angell won with his best throw for a few years with 56.16 and he was backed up well in the B string from Stuart Bladon winning with 46.78.
Phoebe Hoaen made it a double win in the Javelin with a throw of 39.77.
Sophie Wheadon carried on with her Discus wins with a 32.90 throw to finish well clear of the field, she also won the B string Shot 9.11 while her A string partner Hayley Steward had to settle for 2nd place 10.18, Steward won her Long Jump 5.11 and in the mens long jump both Stuart Bladon 6.22 and Oliver Bazin 5.89 won their strings.
Hayley Steward earned herself personnel bests in the 100m 13.0 and 200m 26.8 for two third places, Amy Russell taking part in the B strings 100m 13.6 and 200m 29.4 came 3rd and 4th. The mens 100m saw Oliver Bazin clock 12.1 and Daniel Hockaday 12.1.
Charlotte Booker earned herself a personnel best in the hammer, and brother Harry also gained good points for the club in the high jump and 400m
Duncan McGrory went under 5 mins to set a top UK vet 60 top 5 ranking and breaking the clubs vet 60 record in the 1500m.
Good points came in from the middle distance runners from both sides Ben Schiffer-Harte, Simon Hockaday, Rosa Lawrence and Izzy Hole.
In the 3rd match of the Oxford League, Team Kennet’s Under 9 Boys team finished 1st with 651 points. The Under 9 girls team was 2nd with 200 points, the Under 11 boys were 6th with 637 points and the Under 11 girls 2nd with 633 points. Both Under 9 teams won the league with the Under 11 girls 2nd in their age group and the Under 11 boys 6th.
For the Under 9 boys, Austin Ambrose was the overall winner with 195 points with Aiden Fleming 168 (3rd overall), Noah Lauder-Clark 161 (5th overall) and Joshua Ladds 127 the other scorers for the team. Emma Long was the top TK Under 9 girl (4th overall) despite missing the 600m with an ankle injury. Holly Lockett was 5th overall with 97 points.
For the Under 11 girls, Bethany MacLean was overall winner with 216 points with Erin Gosney 177, Eloise Ross 122 and Millie Phillips/Tillie Bell 118 the other scorers. For the Boys, Ethan Kuijten on 212 points was just piped by Harry Fenner on 217 with Will McDonald 208 the other scorer for the team.
In the individual events, there was another overall 1-2-3 by Noah, Austin and Aiden in the U9B Vortex throw, a 1-2 for Austin and Aiden in the long jump and in the 75m and a 3rd overall for for Austin in the 600m. Overall wins for Emma in 75m, Long Jump and Vortex for U9g. An overall 4th place for Will in the U11B long jump and 3rd for Harry in the vortex and an overall wins for Bethany in the U11G Vortex.
Team Kennet’s Ben East came 4th in the England Championships in the under 20 age group in the Javelin at Bedford on Saturday throwing 61.35m, Ben just moved up to this age group was one of a few throwing in his first year on moving up.
Team Kennet were in action in the 3rd Round of the Wessex Young Athletes League on Sunday held at Oxford.
This was a tough match for the club as they were against two of the top 5 clubs in the league including themselves in fourth place.

The under 15 Girls kept up there pressure on defending their own age group title having to settle for second place on the day, Clare McGonnell won her Javelin again with a throw of 25.92, her impressive 300m tactics blasting out from the gun paid of to just win with 44.4 and she had to settle for 2nd place in the Sprint Hurdles clocking a fast 13.3. Mia Wright cleared 1.43 to win the High Jump with Leilah Gaye coming 2nd in the B string. Emelia Lunn stepped up from the Sprints to 800m for the first time to record 2.38.6 for 2nd in the B string, she came 3rd in the A string Long Jump 4.29. Elsewhere Ava Brade clocked 14.6 in a huge head wind in the 100m for 4th place, Suki Humphreys came 2nd in the A string Discus 18.84.
The under 17 women also came 2nd in their match to keep them in the top 8 overall, Best Performances of the day came in the Javelin as Both Alanna Smith 30.89 and Eve Brown 28.86 scored a double win, In The Discus Annabel Maclean 23.77 and Kirsten Fraser 16.50 both came 2nd in their strings, Fraser came 2nd in the Shot 8.80, two 3rd places came in the long jump Maclean 4.07 and Smith 3.53, The 800m Eve Brown came 3rd with 2.32 and Smith taking a B string win in 2.44.5, Finally the 300m Brown clocked 45.6 for 3rd place and Maclean 46.3 for 2nd B string.
The under 17 men also secured another 2nd place, Brandon Carter threw 41.37 to win his Javelin, with Seb Simpson winning the B string 24.56, Simpson in his best Event the Discus went out to a win with 34.41, and another double win came in the Shot Simpson 9.82 and Carter 8.38, Euan Avery won his high Jump 1.60.
George Down kept up his unbeaten run in the Long Jump in the league with a 6.15 jump and Avery coming 2nd B string 5.07, in the 100m two 2nd places came from Down 11.8 and Avery 12.6
The under 15 boys were 3rd in their match best result of their match was the Javelin James Fenner throwing 39.86 for 1st place and William Appleby taking 2nd B string. Jacob Avery came 3rd in his High Jump 1.50, Fenner came 4th in the long jump with 4.30.
Ivan Checkmazov found a much challenging 800m this time out and had to settle for 3rd place with 2.21.8, but made up with one place better in the 300m for 2nd place 42.4 and James Simmons taking 3rd place, in the sprints Avery had the best result of winning the B string 26.9
The under 13 girls were beaten in to 3rd place in a very close match, Eliska Simpson 17.06 and Zoe Dickson 15.28 took a double win in the Discus, Dickson made it another B string win in the Javelin 16.38 and Simpson taking 3rd A string 18.58, and in the Shot both Simpson 7.23 and Dickson 5.55 had to settle for 2nd places.
Amber Stiles maintained her unbeaten run in the High Jump clearing 1.30, and Ella Cronk taking 2nd B string 1.15, Cronk 3.64 and daisy Downer 3.35 both were 3rd in the long jump. In the long distance races the 1200m Stiles came home in 3rd place 4.27 and in the shorter 800m Emerald Hill -Sawyer was 4th A 2.46 and Cronk 2nd B string 2.52, Both Hill-Sawyer and Olivia Rayfeld scored good points in the 100m and 200m races.
The under 13 boys age group came 4th, this was a tough match for them, best result came in the Javelin with a superb double win Harry Fenner first athlete to beat Will McDonald this year, only 1cm separated the boys 31.90 and 31.89. Both teamed up in the Discus for 3rd places each 18.40 and 14.00, and both again teamed up in the Long Jump in a very high competitive competition Fenner taking 3rd place 4.03 and Mcdonald winning the B string 3.94, Frank Edwards 1500m and 200m gained good points for the club , Aiden Fleming went out hard in the 800m only to be taken close to the line for 3rd place in 2.36.6, Flynn Murray and Josh Ladds both helped the team score with their event.
The Club had 4 x 100m relay team out in the u13 girls they were 5th, u15 girls 4th and u17 women 3rd place while in the boys u13s they also came 5th.
