Wessex League Match 4

Team Kennet finished of their Track and field Season in the Wessex young Athletes League at Swindon with a second place that sees the West Berkshire club finish 4th just ½ point of runners up.

Ben East yet again stole the match high lights as he produced the longest throw in the World this year in the under 15 boys Javelin throwing a massive 70.66 to break his own UK Record for the fifth time and set a new club and league record.

in the age groups the under 13 girls picked up the only age group win placing them 3rd in the league, Lottie Absolom got back to winning ways in the high Jump with 1.40, and a superb Double win came in the Javelin Eve brown 23.62 and Alanna Smith 15.84, annabel Todd came 2nd in the A string Discus 21.64and was closely followed by Absolom in the B string winning this with a throw of 20.60, on the track two good 2nd places came from Absolom 12.7 and Aimee Dickson in the 70m hurdles, and same placings were matched in the 100m Dickson 15.0 and Lily Apps 15.6, both teamed up in the 200m Dickson 4th and Apps 3rd.
the 800m Tara hogan came home in 2nd place2.45.4 and in the longer 1200m both Kirsten Fraser and Eve Brown were 2nd. the Relay quartet of Dickson,Apps, Hogan and Absolom came 2nd

The under 15 boys just missed out on winning their age group, in the throws as always the yellow vest picking up maximum points, in the B string Javelin a win from Oliver Ford 32.21, in the Discus Harry Booker 42.27 and Oliver Gregory 36.63 both winning their strings and the Shot Booker threw 12.93 and Gregory 12.90 almost matching each other for another Double.
The sprints also secured high points Ben East won the 100m in 12.3 with Matt Jones taking 3rd B string, a Double win came in the 200m Ethan Haines 24.4 and Oliver Gregory 24.9, the longer 300m Haines made it a double 40.2 and Davis coming 3rd B.
The relay Quartet of Haines, East, Booker and Gregory came home in 1st with 48.4
the result meant the under 15 boys came 3rd in their age group league

The under 15 girls came 2nd in their match Double wins came from Sophie wheadon 10.47 and poppy Bladon 7.04 in the Shot, wheadon then went on to win the Discus 29.93 and bladon taking 2nd 19.95, in the Javelin two good 2nd places came from Wheadon 27.65 and Emily Tucker 12.72, on the track in the 800m Annelise Gale led all the way till the last 40m to take 2nd and Pippa Thomas won the B string, tucker came 3rd in the longer 1500m. The 100m Izzy Kerslake came 4th in 14.0 just .2 of a win in a close race, Ellie Kerslake took 2nd in the B string 14.4 and new comer Gemma Moon clocked 14.8 as a non scorer, in the 200m Moon came 4th 29.8 and Ella Ward came 4th in the B string. Gale picked up a 2nd in the B string 300m while in the 4x100m relay Tk were 3rd 55.5

The under 17 women came 3rd but a much depleted squad earned good points to help the team, in the High Jump Kira Angell took 2nd place and new comer Ceri Amison won the B string, the Javelin Angell took 3rd place 23.39 and Bethan Philp taking 2nd B, on the track Philp secured a win in the 1500m 5.27. the 200m both Angell 30.2 and Amison 31.5 came 3rd, Amison came 4th in her 100m 14.8
the women came 3rd overall in their age group league

The under 13 boys came 2nd in their match getting stronger as season went on, best resulton the Field came in the Javelin Oliver Humphrey coming 2nd 26.96 and Digby Riggall winning the B string 26.05, the Discus saw two 3rd places Tom Wells 18.67 and Noah Kemp 14.68, two 4th places in the Shot came from Sam Denis 5.68 and Seb Simpson 4.89, The high Jump euan Avery cleared 1.30 for 3rd place and George Mackie taking 2nd place in the B string.
The track saw a double win in the 800m Toby Clark 2.28.3 and Noah Kemp 2.39.4, while in the sprints Humphrey secured a 5th in the 100m 15.0 and 3rd in the 200m 29.8

The under 17 men came 3rd on the day Oliver Bazin winning his Long Jump 5.97 with Tom Hills taking 2nd B, James Mclaughlin won the Discus with a throw of 29.52.
in the 800m two 2nd places came from McLaughlin 2.16 and Toby Thomas 2.27, both teamed up in the 400m Mclaughlin taking 2nd 58.8 and Thomas winning the B string 66.9
In the sprints Oliver Bazin came 3rd in both 100 and 200 and tom Hills took two 2nd places in the 200m

SAL Match 5

Team Kennet produced one of their best ever team performances in the Southern Athletics League Division 3SW match held at Swindon on Saturday, securing a top 6 finish in the league

A convincing win on the day saw two club records broken and 32 individual wins.

Hayley Steward was again in fine form breaking the clubs Shot Putt record winning in 11.06, and the other club record which was equalled to Anna Montagne in the High Jump which goes  back to 2005 winning with a height of 1.56. The B String in the Shot was won by Alisha Bradford 7.46 and in the high Jump B by Anna Pettit 1.40. The Long Jump saw another double win Steward leaping 5.20 and Pettit 4.29, and in the Triple Jump Steward making it another win 10.09 and Georgina Bradford taking the B string. Alisha Bradford won the Discus with a 27.56 throw and Cheryl Angell taking 3rd B string, while in the Hammer A. Bradford had to settle for 2nd place 29.78 and a win in the B string by Cheryl Angell. Pheobe Hoaen produced a massive throw in the Javelin of 37.33 to win and produce the fourth best throw with a senior javelin as a u17 in the UK,  Montagne won the B string 21.89.

On the Track a superb Double came in the 400m event Montagne clocking 62.1 and Pettit 63.8, just before another Double came in the 800m Kirsty Bennet 2.38.1 and G. Bradford 2.44.5, Kira Angell started the track of on the day in the 400m hurdles coming 2nd in 79.6.

The Sprint races Steward had to settle for 2nd places in both 100m 13.4 and 200m 27.5 in the A string while in the B string events wins came from Sunita Sisodiya 100m 13.8 and Kira Angell 200m 28.9. The long

er distance races 1500m Bennet had to settle for 2nd place 5.40.6 and G. Bradford taking a B string win 5.49.5, while in the 2km Steeplechase a double win came from G. Bradford and Hoaen. The relay teams both won their races firstly in the 4x100m clocking 55.7 and the 4x400m team 4.33.6, the TK girls were unbeaten all season in their category.

The Mens section also clocked up a lot of win, in the High Jump Joe Osler cleared 1.86 to win and Daniel Hockaday cleared 1.50 to take 2nd B string, Osler teamed up with Josh Willock in both the Long and Triple jumps to score Double wins, in the Long Osler 6.01, Willock 5.89, triple Osler11.74, Willock 11.40, in the Field the club could only secure 4th places in all four disciplines first time this as ever happened.

On the track Willock secured a double sprint wins, in the 100m clocking 11.7 and 200m 24.0 while two 3rd places came from Osler in the 100m and Hockaday 200m, the 400m hurdles D. Hockaday came 3rd A string and Nick Bull won the B string. The 5000m Gavin Mclaughlin came 2nd A string 19.57 and a Win came in the B string from Mitchell Poustie 22.15.  The 800m James Mclaughlin came home in 2nd place with Gavin Mclaughlin 3rd, the 1500m j. Mclaughlin could only get 4th A and a welcome return from Duncan Mcgrory a vet 60 clocking 4.59.2 took 2nd place but has clocked the 4th fastest time this year in the UK by vet 60. Both relay teams had to settle for 3rd places

Oxford League Match 2

Banbury 12/8/18
U15 Boys, Oliver Gregory picked up 3 wins with 100m 12.6, Discus 34.05 and Shot 12.42 and with Oliver Ford picking up the B string wins in , shot 8.74 , Discus 26.51 and a PB in the Javelin 32.32 coming 2nd. Mathew Jones picked up valuable points in the Long Jump, High Jump and 100. Ethan Haines won the 200m and 300m in 24.7 and 40.00 respectively. In the u13’s TK had just 2 boys, Noah Kemp coming 2nd in the 800m and Discus with 13.89 and Euan Avery in the long Jump and High Jump. Josh Sells stepped up for the U17’s boys Running well in the 800m clocking 2.28.
Two U17 Girls lead the way for the girls with both winning the High Jump, Kira Angell who’s coming back from injury won the A string with 1.45 and Anna Montange with 1.35. Angell opted for the Discus with a PB of 17.41 to take 3rd and a 200m run with the 1st 4 girls all coming in between 28.2 and 28.9. Montagne won the Javelin with 24.66 and was the only 80m hurdler with 13.8 U 15’s Poppy Bladon 3rd in the Discus 18.12 and high Jump of 1.25. Annalise Gale Discus 14.82 and Shot 4.82 and won impressively in the 800m 2.40. Amy Russell picked up some good points in the Long Jump. In the sprints, Francesca Young came 4th in the 200m 29.3 and a 3rd place in the 300m 47, and Ella Ward coming 3rd in the B string with 31.2 in the 200m. In the 100m, Izzy Kerslake 2nd in the B with 13.87 and sister Ellie 14.1 A string. The relay team got themselves a 3rd place in 57.3. U 13 girls, Annabel Todd got herself a win in the 800m 2.27, a 3rd Discus 19.54 and 2nd in the B string shot 5.86. Lottie Absolom earned a 2nd in the discus 14.56 and 12.7 in the hurdles. Catherine Jones 4th in the Shot 5.89, 200m 35.00 and Lyla Goodwin 34.6 in the 200 and a 100m time of 16.2 to get the 3rd spot. In the 1500m Kirsten Fraser took 3rd with 5.26 and Alana Smith taking 1st in the B string 6.15. Ammie Dickson took 2nd place in the 100m in a time of 14.6, a Hurdles time of 13.1 to take the 1st place in the B string and another 1st for the B string in the 800m with 2.47. The u13 Girls also came 3rd in the 4×100 relay. A good team spirit was had by all in such dismal weather, well done everyone. Cheryl.

SEAA Championships

Team Kennet Athletes came away with a haul of medals from the SEAA U13, U15 and U17 Championships at Lee Valley.

Annabel Todd took Silver in the Under 13 girls 800m with a time of 2.26.46. Charlotte Absolom also picked up a silver medal in the Under 13 girls High Jump clearing 1.39m but her Long Jump of 4.14 failed to gain a medal.

In the under 15 boys, Ben East continued his dominance of the event winning Gold with a throw of 60.17m. Harry Booker picked up a silver medal with a Shot Put of 13.15m which broke the club record. He almost went 1 better in the Discus where his throw of 45.26 (also a new club record) matched the winner’s throw but he got silver on countback based on his 2nd best throw.

In the Under 17 Men’s Long Jump, Oliver Bazin jumped 5.86 to finish 9th.

u13 inter counties

Team Kennet had several athletes picked to represent Berkshire in the u13 Inter Counties at Kingston over the weekend, on the day only three could make the trip, Oliver Absolom just missed out on his Discus best to throw 17.91 for 7th place, while in the Javelin Oliver humphries threw just short of his best with a 25.35 for 8th place in a very tight competion. Lottie Absolom took part in the 100m non scoring to clock 14.8,unfortunality her favoured event the high jump (1.47 this year) she is Berks number 3  couldnt take part in this event as the county team could only have two represetitives, where all three girls are ranked in top 12 in the UK.

Andover Tri

Team Kennet Triathletes were out in force on Sunday in the Andover Sprint Triathlon, very hot conditions on the day saw 11 club athletes race the 440m pool swim, 30km bike and 8km run.

Cameron Craik set the fastest swim of the day and earned himself an excellent second place on the day in a total time of 1.32.55, he was closely followed by Simon Whatson who came 3rd overall setting the fastest run of the day in a time of 1.34.46.

Chris Hall was next home for the Yellows in 5th place overall that saw him get 2nd Vet prize clocking 1.35.52, Daniel Wright was next in 11th 1.40.16 followed by Bart Kujiten 17th 1.42.44.

Martin Colston claimed another prize as he finished 18th but took 2nd Male senior vet in a time of 1.43.47 and Chris treacher also in the same age group was awarded third place as he came home in 21st place overall 1.47.09

Mark Little came  home in 34th 1.52.28, Neil Atherton 41st 1.55.48 and then Ron Stephenson 53rd 1.59.42 taking the Male Vets 70 award runner up.

Kate Monk was the clubs only lady taking part and she came home in 4th place in 1.54.06

English Schools

Team Kennet had several athletes compete at the English Schools Finals held at Birmingham over the weekend.

Ben East stole the whole meeting athlete of the weekend as he broke his own UK Record for the Javelin for the second time this season throwing 66.95 in the Junior Boys age group, on the way he also set a new English Schools record and a new club record to claim a Gold medal.

In the same age group Harry Booker was involved in a very close Discus Final securing a Bronze medal Booker threw 42.16m.

In the Girls Junior age group Sophie Wheadon took part in the Discus to throw 30.04 to finish 5th out of 21.

Stuart Bladon took part in the 100m Hurdles in the Inter Boys age group, he came 5th in his heat in 14.01, but clipped a hurdle hard to slow him down, Bladons time just wasn’t quick enough for the final.

Team Kennet secured another great 2nd place at Winchester in the Southern Athletics League Division 3SW match.

In scorching temperatures 22 wins were notched up by the Yellow Vests, It was Heptathlete Haley Steward that was the clubs best athlete on the day clocking up three wins, first was in the Shot with a 10.59 throw, followed straightaway in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.10, not long from this she won the B string 400m in 63.1, Anna Montagne took the 400m overall with a superb timed run in 61.8.

Bethan Phelp added another A string win in the 800m with a great sprint finish to come across the line in 2.27.0 and Georgina Bradford winning the B string in 2.45.6

The Hurdles events Both Kira Angell and Caitlin Nowell teamed up, Angell taking two 2nd places in the A string 100mh 19.1 and 400m hurdles 75.2 and Nowell taking two B string wins in 21.2 and 78.8

Angell teamed up with Montagne in the High Jump both securing 2nd places Angell clearing 1.45 and Montagne 1.50, the Triple Jump saw two more 2nd places from Steward 9.06 and Carys Cox 8.65.

The faster track races the Sprints 100m Montagne took 2nd 13.2 and Sunita Sisodiya also 2nd 13.4, in the longer 200m Steward took 2nd place 27.5 and Susodiya taking 3rd 30.4.

The womens throws secured high points yet again, double wins came in the Javelin Pheobe Hoaen 34.88 and Deborah Montgomery 25.70, The Discus saw a win from Charlotte Booker 23.94 in the hammer Alisha Bradford had to settle for 2nd 30.40 and Booker won the B string 29.58

The mens section started well, on the track two wins came in the 400m hurdles with Daneil Hockaday and Nick Bull, both teamed up again in the high Jump with Hockaday taking 2nd A string and another win came from Bull in the B string. Josh Willock then won the 100m in 11.3 and Oliver Bazin taking 2nd in the B string. Willock made it a superb sprint double in the 200m 23.0 and Daniel Hockaday securing a 2nd B string 24.9.

Points from the 400m upwards were hard to get securing 3rd or 4th places from Mitch Poustie, Ben Schiffer-Harte, Simon Hockaday and Nick Bull, the Long Jump secured two 2nd places with Willock 6.11 and Bazin 5.45 in the Triple Jump Willock cleared 11.91 for another win and Schiffer-Harte2nd B string.

The throws scored well despite most the club main throwers were away, in the Hammer Stan Chambers and Simon Hockaday both came 2nd places, this was matched again in the Discus with Chambers and Bull, both Chambers and Bull teamed up again in the Javelin for another two 2nd places, and again two more 2nd places in the Shot from Chambers and Schiffer-Harte.

Berkshire U13 Championships

Team Kennet had several athletes compete at the u13 Berkshire Track and Field Championships held at Bracknell.

Annabel Todd took the clubs only gold in a well deserved performance that saw her run 1.45.9 just missing out on the club record in the 600m, she added another medal a Silver in the Discus with a new Personnel best of 19.77. Aimee Dickson secured a Bronze Medal in the 70m hurdles clocking 13.3. Charlotte Absolom earned herself two Silver medals firstly in the High Jump with 1.40 and in the long jump 4.17. Oliver Absolom got a Bronze in the Discus with a throw of 19.16 and Oliver Humphrey just missed out on a medal in the Javelin with a throw of 24.38

SEAA Combined Events

Team Kennet struck twice at the recent South of England Multi events Championships held at Horspath Athletics Track in Oxford.

Stuart Bladon earned himself South of England Champion in the Octathlon in the under 17 age group with a below par of 4093 pts. Bladon clocked up a 54.38 in the 400m, 13.9 in the 100m hurdles, 1.80 in the high jump, 5.91 in long jump, 11.50 in the shot, 31.75 Discus and in the javelin 36.38.

Harry Booker came Runners Up in the under 15 boys age group with 2319 pts, in his 800m ran 2.31.04, 80m hurdles 13.1. 1.53 in his high jump and 5.25 in the long jump and 11.48 in the shot.
