2019 Road Running leagues were very successful that saw around 60 members take part from 5km to Marathon Distance, Ben Schiffer-Harte took a hattrick of League Division wins to win the top Flight League, while in Division 2 it was a very close affair with top 6 all gunning for the 3 awards, in Division 3 new member George Westall got 3 late runs in to move up to equal 2nd with Paul but as Paul did 4 races he claimed the runner up spot. In the Ladies Cheryl Angell made sure she was going to win from the set and she achieved all race disciplines in the first half of the year, keeping it in the family Daughter Kira tackled the first 3 disciplines to just win League 2

Team Kennet presented the Road Running League Awards at CCAT on a club night that saw over 60 road runners compete for the club in its 5 divisions which covers distances of 5km up to Marathon Distance.

Harriet and Matilda Saunders started the summer season with the Bristol Track Club 3km road race on Saturday 13 April and the Winchester Open Meet on Sunday 14 April.
Both girls recorded personal bests over the 3km course with Harriet (11:49) taking 6th place in a closely fought U13 girls event and Matilda (13:14) taking 3rd in the U11s.



Some of the Team Kennet juniors were in action on Sunday at the Green Park Challenge. The Green Park Challenge is a 3km finishing in the Select Leasing Stadium, home of Reading Football Club. This year’s event saw 684 runners take part, first over the line was Elliot Bell in 18th position with a time of 11.29s to finish 17th overall, and 5th in his age category M12. Brother Henry Bell 41st, 12.18s finished 9th in his age category M12. Ben Doherty also taking part for the boys finished in 28th, 6th in the M12 category. Penelope Lyth finished in 25th position, 3rd female overall 11.51s and 1st in her category F11.


On the bank holiday Monday several Team Kennet juniors and seniors battled it out in the annual Newbury 10km event which features two junior races, 900m and 1500m.
First up was the 900m race which saw TK juniors dominate. Penelope Lyth finished 1st overall after being 1st girl over the line last year, and 3rd overall, she was keen to be at the front and lead the race from the start. Chester Bailey also charging was close to the front and came over the line in 2nd, and close behind was Josh Bailey in 5th, Affra Bailey 6th, Toby Clay in 7th and Sophia Mahony in 18th.
The 1500m race was next with Charlotte Bailey putting in a strong race finishing in 3rd place overall, 1st female over the line, Orlagh Stratford 16th, JJ Mercer 17th, Alice Stratford 18th.
There were 12 Senior Team Kennet runners on the day, with Simon Whatson finishing in 3rd place 35:40, Neil Atherton 48th 42:21, Philip Baker 81st 44:15, Mitchell Poustie 44:41 89th, Dean Makar 46:19 116th, Nicci Clay 134th and 14th Female over the line 47:15, Richard Dunbabin 48:33 186th, Emiliano Espinar 49:55 224th, Simon Hockaday 51:41 283rd, Simon Gale 55:31 410th, Anna Riggall 58:24 478th, Elizabeth Stratford 1:15:13 867th and Cheryl Angell 1:20:20 893rd. On the day 919 finishers. Well Done to all who took part.




Great time was had by all TK members at the Overton 5 mile race last Sunday. A rolling course (to put it mildly!) but with a downhill finish in the last mile which was more than welcome! Opening race of the Hampshire Road race league ensured some fast club runners were in attendance. First over the line for Team Kennet was Nick Burdett, MV50 35:02 11th MV50, Mitchell Poustie followed 36:59 20th MV40, Simon Hockaday 41:17 25th MV55, Julia Gaye 45:56 15th FV40, and Simon Gale 46:51 34th MV50. Elodie Burdett took part in the junior race finishing 1st overall.


Team Kennet had two Junior winners at the Greenham Common 5k Fun run on Sunday in poor conditions.
Jacob Woods and Kirsten Fraser both winning the under 15 age groups in just over 20 minutes only seconds separated them both
