U15/20 Inter County

Team Kennet had several athletes compete in the u15/20 inter counties match at Horspath on Saturday.

In the under 15 age group Liam Cawley represented Hampshire in the Javelin to throw 56.61 to take 1st place.

In the under 20 age group representing Berkshire Phoebe Hoaen stepped up from u17 to throw heavier weight in the Javelin coming 3rd with 37.33, Oliver Bazin also stepped up an age group coming 5th in the 400m 54.87 and 10th in the Long Jump 5.62, Stuart Bladon as an u20 came 3rd in the Javelin 47.42 and 3rd in the 110m Hurdles in 14.74m

Wessex Match 4

Team Kennet Juniors took their second League win in 8 days of the Wessex Young Athletes League held at Andover to finish third overall in the League to cap a brilliant season only beaten by two clubs all season.

On the day TK Yellow Vests had to battle hard to keep in front but towards the end of the match their strength in depth carried them through to Victory seeing 43 individual wins on the day.

The under 13 Girls took a convincing win in their league to finish runners up, in the 1200m a very tactical race developed with Eve Brown sprinting to victory in 4.04.7 and just behind Emma Davies sprinted past her B string rival to win her B string 4.19.8, Kirsten Fraser made it a 800m win by storming to victory in 2.27.7 and Alanna Smith coming 2nd in the B 2.54.8, Fraser came 2nd in the B string 70m hurdles, 13.6, this time was matched by Claire McGonnell in the A string where she came 4th. The Sprints were grueling Zoe Allen came 4th in the 100m A 14.2 and 3rd in her 200m 29.1, Annabel MacLean coming 5th in the 100m 15.3 and McGonnell 3rd in the 200m 30.3, on the Field a double win came in the Javelin Eve Brown throwing 26.13 and Alanna Smith 23.24, Zoe Allen found herself in a tough Shot competition taking 3rd A with a throw of 8.12 and Brown taking a Hatrick of wins in the B string 5.89. MacLean won her B string High Jump best of the jumps.

The under 17 Women again won their match but had to settle for runners up in their own league, The Field events saw high points in the Shot Sophie Wheadon 10.55 and Pheobe Hoaen 9.11 both winning, Wheadon made it another win in her Discus 30.59 and was backed up by Georgina Thomson winning the B string, and in the Javelin Hoaen threw 40.51 to win this and Anna Montagne winning the B 27.08, Georgina Thomson won the High Jump, in the Long Jump Montagne had to settle for 2nd with 4.82 and this was matched by B string Rebecca Thomson.
The track also saw great wins Montagne won the 80m Hurdles 13.0, Bethan Philp won the 1500m, Both Thomson twins teamed up in the 800m to finish 2nd A Rebecca and 1st B string Georgina. The Sprints 200m Faye Saunderson came 2nd 27.9 and Hoaen won her B string 31.6, in the shorter 100m Saunderson was 3rd across the line 13.3 and Izzy Kerslake coming 2nd B string 13.6, Both Saunderson and R. Thomson came 3rd in their 300m races and finally a great win in the 4 x100m clocking 53.2 by Saunderson, Kerslakes and Montagne.

The under 15 boys won their match to lift them to top 8 overall in their league, the squad was boosted by new members Josh Down coming 2nd in the 100m A string 12.1 and 4th in the 200m 24.9, Teague Pasea winning the B string 100m 12.5 and 200m 25.4, Noah Kemp won his B string 300m and Oliver Humphreys came 2nd in the 80m Hurdles best of the individual track, with the new boys the 4x100m saw a superb victory in 50.2 by Pasea, Matthew Jones, Jonah Briggs and Down.
The field saw its usual domination of events Matthew Jones winning the High Jump 1.50 with George Mackie taking 2nd B string, Oliver Ford throwing 11.18 to win his Shot, but had to settle for 2nd place in the Discus 31.09 but was backed well by Liam Cawley in the B string 27.90, the Javelin saw a great win by Cawley 52.96 and Kian Hockaday making it a double 33.22.

The under 17 men also won on the day, lifting them to top 3 overall in their league, Oliver Bazin won his Long Jump 5.76, Harry Booker winning the High Jump 1.55, Booker then winning the Shot 11.32 with Ben Lawrence winning the B string 9.04
Booker made it a hattrick of wins in the Discus and breaking his own club record to 39.79 and Alex McLaughlin winning the B string 26.15, Lawrence then threw a 42.27 to win his Javelin and McLaughlin won the B string. On the track Bazin came 2nd in the 100m 12.2 and 3rd in the 200m 24.3 and Mclaughlin came 2nd in the B string 200m 26.8

The under 13 Boys also welcomed newcomer George Down to boost the team as they finished 2nd on the day, he won his 100m in 13.4 and his 200m 27.8, Jacob Avery ran a superb B string 100m to win this in 14.1, Down made it a hattrick of wins in the Long Jump leaping to 4.47 in the A string, James Fenner taking 3rd B string.
Points kept flowing in the field Seb Simpson and Josepth Hoaen both coming 2nd in their strings of the Shot, Simpson matching this position in the Discus 21.98 and Hoaen taking a B win 15.72, and best came in the Javelin that saw a double win Fenner 28.59 and Hoaen 23.01
Finally the 4x100m team came 2nd Down, Fenner, Avery and Edward Mackie.

The under 15 girls had a light team than usual some very good performances came Charlotte Absolom coming thir in her Discus 16.44 and Annelise Gale 2nd B string, Absolom taking 2nd in her Javelin 20.90, in the shot Emily Tucker came 2nd 8.87, in a very high performances in the high jump Gemma Moon had to settle for 4th A string 1.35 and Absolom 3rd B 1.30, on the tack best result came in the 800m Emily Tucker taking 2nd A string 2.39 and Annelise Gale clocking same time and placing in the B string.

Wessex League Quadkids

Half Term holidays meant a depleted Team Kennet Quadkids team could only finish in 5th place in the 2nd Wessex League match at Southampton with a score of 1132 points.

Bethany MacLean was the highest scoring girl coming 4th overall with 206 points. Erin Gosney scored 184 with Eloise Ross 139 and Leilah Gaye 113 the other scorers.

For the boys, Charlie Todd on 181 beat newcomers Joseph Bell 160 and Jack Btooke-Taylor 149.

In the Vortex throw, the top 3 girls were Bethany with 28.20, Erin 22.00 and Eliska Simpson 18.54. Joseph top scored for the boys with 20.01.

In the 600m run, Bethany ran 2.04.9 with Erin 2.16 and Leilah and Lilia Gale both running 2.27.8. For the boys Charlie posted a time of 2.05.3

In the 75m sprint, Erin was the fastest with 12.5 ahead of Bethany 12.6 and Eloise 13.5 while Charlie 12.7 just out-sprinted Jack on 12.9.

In the Long Jump, Erin 3.15 against just pipped Bethany 3.13 with Eloise 2.94 while Charlie 3.11 was the pick of the boys.

Wessex League Match 2

Team Kennet took part in the Wessex Young Athletes League at Southampton on Sunday in a tough match against lead leaders Winchester. The Yellow Vests saw over 70 athletes turn out and came away with a well deserved second place which saw  another League Record from Pheobe Hoaen in the under 17 Womens Javelin throwing 45.41 to take her to UK number 3

The Under 17 Women came so close to winning their age group league, only 2 pts separated them from Winchester, Sophie Wheadon had a busy day in the throws, she won her B string Javelin with a 22m throw, while in her favorite event the Discus she won the A string with 31.14 and Ellie Armstrong won her B string, both teamed up again to win the Shot strings Wheadon 11.65 and Armstrong 9.48, in the High Jump, Georgina Thomson 1.35 and Rebecca Thomson 1.20 both came 2nd in their strings.

The Track events were tough for the girls, New Comer Faye Saunderson finished 3rd in her 100m 14.2 and 4th in the 200m 28.4 A strings, while in the B strings Izzy Kerslake came 2nd 14.2 and Amy Russell came 2nd in the 200m B 29.6, the slightly longer 300m Saunderson came 4th 48.3 and a B string win came from Lily Darcy-Masters 49.5. The 800m Georgina Thomson came 3rd and Pippa Thomas winning the B string and in the longer 1500m Rebecca Thomson came 3rd in the A string. The Relay quartet  of Ellie and Izzy Kerslake, Russell and Saunders came home in 2nd place 55.1

The under 17 men came 3rd in their age group, Ben East again won his Javelin with a throw of 65.26 and New Comer Ben Lawrence came 2nd in the B string 37.55, Harry Booker had to settle for 2nd in the Discus 37.06 and Oliver Gregory won the B string 31.40, the same positions came in the Shot again with Booker 11.52 and Gregory 10.61, the high jump saw a double win East winning this with 1.72 and Booker winning the B string 1.60, East made it a hatrick of wins in the 100m clocking 12.2 and Gregory came 4th in the 200m 25.4

The under 13 girls came up with very tough opposition with nearly every single event covered by all clubs, it was the field events that picked up the best of the points as the girls came 2nd in their match, Eve Brown and Alanna Smith teamed up in the Javelin to clinch a double win Brown throwing 23.77 and Smith 21.69, in the non scoring Claire McGonnell threw 21.73, in the Discus new comer Kiera Cawley came 2nd with 13.26 and Caitlyn Davies taking 3rd B string while in the Shot Zoe Allen won with a big 8.17 and Eve Brown taking 2nd in the B string 5.52, The High jump saw both TK girls jump 1.30 McGonnell taking 3rd A and Neve Wright winning the B string, in the Long Jump Wright came 3rd A string 3.92 and Lyla Goodwin winning the B string 3.86.

The Track was a different game McGonnell taking 2nd A in the 70m hurdles 13.7 with Amelie Ross 4th B string. Eve Brown took the only one of the two u13 track wins in the  1200m clocking 4.16.3 and Emma Davies taking 2nd B string 4.27.1. Zoe Allen won her 200m with a great effort 29.8, and Goodwin taking 3rd in the B string, in the shorter 100m Allen came 2nd in 14.6 and Goodwin 3rd B 15.7, Alanna Smith came 4th in the 800m A and Harriet Gibson taking 5th B and the last race of the day in the 4 x100m Allen, McGonnell, Goodwin, Davies came equal 3rd 59.3.

The under 13 boys came 2nd in their match, again it was the Field that took the best of the points, in the throws a Double win came in the Javelin James Fenner throwing 27.32 and Joseph Hoaen 20.92, The Discus saw another Double win again Simpson 20.67 and Sam Dennis 17.17, Simpson made it a hattrick of wins in the Shot with  7.58 and Dennis just missed out on winning the B with 6.27, Both Boys came 2nd in the high jump Jacob Avery 1.30 and Ivan Chekmazov 1.15 in the long jump Chekmazov came 3rd 4.04 and a B string win came from Fenner 3.65

On the track in the sprints Avery came 3rd in the 100m 15.7 and Jacob Woods taking nd B 15.9, in the longer 200m Avery came 3rd 30.7 and Fenner 2nd B 32.2, the middle distance races Checkmazov came 3rd in the 800m 2.40.6 and Hoaen 3rd B string 2.57.8 and in the longer 1500m Woods came 5th 5.21 and Kian Darcy-Masters 4th B 5.32.7 the relay quartet of Chekmazov, Fenner, Woods and Avery came 3rd 60.3

Both the under 15 age groups came 3rd in their age group matches, the highlight in the Girls was Annabel Todd who timed her 800m run to perfection to win in a very fast 2.22.6, team mate Annelise Gale taking 3rd in the B string 2.42,

Emily Tucker came 2nd in the Shot with 9.05 and Aimee Dickson 3rd B 5.99, in the Discus Todd came 4th 18.97 and Dickson 2nd B string 15.39, the High Jump Gemma Moon came 2nd 1.40 and Lottie Absolom came 2nd in the B string 1.35, in the Long Jump Absolom came 3rd 4.14 and same position in the B string by Annabel Gibson 3.66, on the Track Absolom came 4th in the 75m hurdles 13.7 and Gibson taking 2nd in the B string 14.2, best other result on the track came in the 300m with Todd taking 2nd place 45.1 the Relay quartet of Moon, Todd, Absolom and Ella Ward took 4th place 57.5

The Boys best results on the track came from Noah Kemp in the 1500m clocking 4.49 for 2nd place and Oliver Humphrey in the 80m hurdles, with the relay quartet of Harry Davis, Jonah Briggs, Matthew Jones and Humphrey taking 5th place 58.1

The field events faired better for the boys, in the long jump George Mackie jumped 4.56 for 3rd place and Matthew Jones taking 2nd in the B string 4.34, the High Jump was a superb competition, Jones coming 4th wit h1.45 and Euan Avery also jumping 1.45 in the B string won on count back, A Double win came in the Javelin Liam Cawley throwing 48.47 and Kian Hockaday 31.04, Cawley had a busy day taking 2nd in the Shot 10.85 with Hockaday 3rd B string, Cawley taking 3rd in the Discus 27.98 and Tom Wells taking 2nd in the B string 21.35

Team Kennet Quadkids team produced their best result so far of the season in the latest match of the Wessex Young Athletes league held at Swindon by coming second.

Bethany MacLean won the girls outright with a score of 231pts, she ran a fast 75m sprint in 12.3, lept to one of the best long jumps of the day 3.34, and was the fastest in the 600m races clocking 2.02 and then throwing the vortex 34.54m to win this. Erin Gosney came third overall also clocking a fast 12.3 in the 75m sprint she also won her heat in the 600m and second fastest on the day in 2.07 and he vortex of 23m was good enough for her third overall. Esmie Denton was the clubs third scorer here she ran 13.7 in the 75m it was her vortex of over 20 that pushed her score up. Tillie Bell ran 13 seconds for 75m and Imogen Cowell also ran a fast 75m in 13.3
The boys saw Harry Fenner best placed in 8th it was his vortex of over 36m that scored his best points, Charlie Todd best event was the 600m clocking 1.59 to come in 2nd in his heat, but also ran 12.4 in the 75m sprint. Will McDonald ran 12.9 in the 75m sprint and also threw over 32m in the vortex.
Other athletes taking part were Evan Alderman and Joseph Bell for the boys and the girls Suki Humphries, Zoe Dickson, Lilia Gale, Millie Phillips

Wessex League Match 3

Team Kennet won their first match of the season in the Wessex Young Athletes League by a club record margin of points with some 54 individual wins on the day to lift them up in to third place in the 24 club league.

Two club records were broken on the day firstly Kirsten Fraser in the under 13 girls 1200m clocking 3.54.9 and under 17 Harry Booker in the Discus with a throw of 38.98

The under 13 girls took a team win, Clare McGonnell kick starting the track of in the 70m hurdles taking 3rd place 13.2 but it was Fraser that took another win in the B string with a fast 13.5, The 800m saw a gutsy run by Eve Brown winning in 2.36.5 from the gun with Maddie Baker taking 2nd place, Emma Davies took 2nd place in the B string 1200m, Zoe Allen had to settle for 2nd places in the 100m and 200m 14.4 and 29.7, and Lyla Goodwin taking 5th in the 100m and 4th in the 200m B strings.
The relay quartet of Allen, McGonnell, Goodwin and Georgie Johnston came 2nd with 60.1, The field events saw Neve Wright leap 4.03 for 2nd place and Goodwin taking the B string win 3.84, Both Allen 8.47 and Brown had to settle for 2nd places in the Shot, while Fraser made it a hattrick of win in the B string Discus 12.02 and Kiera Cawley taking 3rd A string 13.94, the Javelin as all season saw a Double win Claire MCGonnell throwing 27.72 to win with Brown throwing 26.25 to win the B string.

The under 17 women also won their match, keeping them up the top with Winchester, on the track double wins came in the 100m Izzy Kerslake 14. And Amy Russell 14.2, 200m Faye Saunderson 28.3 and Russell 29.7, 300m Faye Saunderson 45.7 and Anna Pettit 46.2, the middle distance races in the 800m Georgina Thomson came 3rd, in her 1500m she had to settle for 2nd place while sister Rebecca Thomson won her B string. The Relay quartet of I. Kerslake, E. Kerslake, Russell and Pettit came in 1st with 53.9.
The field events saw more double win both the Kerslake twins won their long jump strings, Pettit taking the high jump 1.45 and G. Thomson the B string 1.35, Sophie Wheadon winning her Shot 10.75 and Discus 31.50 and Lily D Arcy-Masters winning the B string and Sophie Wheadon then won her Javelin for a hattrick of wins.

The under 17 men won also on the day but had to work hard for this, Ben East won the 100m with 12.5 and Oliver Bazin winning the B string 12.8, Ethan Haines won his 200m in 24.5, and team mate Alex McLaughlin winning the B string 27.3, Bazin 53.8 and Haines 55.6 both won their 400m strings.
The relay quartet of Haines, Bazin, East and Booker just dipped under 50 seconds to finish the day with another win.

On the Field Bazin lept to a massive 6.24 to win the Long Jump and Haines winning the B string, East and Booker both cleared 1.65 in the High Jump to take a double win, on the thorws Booker threw 11.86 to win the Shot and Ben Lawrence taking the B string. McLaughlin made it another B string win in the Discus 27.57 and Ben East threw 60.98 in a strong head win to win the Javelin with Lawrence throwing 41.72 to win the B.

The under 15 boys were second in their age group, Liam Cawley threw a massive 55.63 to win his Javelin and Kian Hockaday took the B string 35.66, Cawley made it a double win in the Discus 33.93 with Oliver Ford winning the B string 32.66, Ford then went on to win the Shot 10.32 and Cawley winning the B string 9.88.
On the track Oliver Humphrey came 2nd in the 80m hurdles
, this placing was matched by George Shakespear in the 800m 2.20.7, Jonah Briggs, Oliver Absolom and Harry Davis all added good points to their tally.

For the first time this season the under 13 boys were down on numbers but the boys still all clubbed together to come 2nd in their age group, The Throws saw good points Seb Simpson coming 2nd A in the Shot 6.63 with Sam Dennis winning the B string 6.39, both teamed up in the discus to secure a double win Simpson 16.21 and Dennis 14.85, In the Javelin James Fenner came 2nd 25.81 and Simpson matching this in the B 18.34.
Ivan Chekmazov came 2nd in the 800m on the track 2.41 best on the track, which was matched by the 4x100m team of Fenner, Chelmazov, William Harris, Kian Darcy-Masters 58.9.

The under 15 girls also made it a second team place, best result on the track came in the 800m with Annabel Todd winning 2.28.5 and Annelise Gale winning the B string 2.36.3, Emily Tucker won her 1500m 5.32.6, in the sprints good points came from Ella Ward, Gemma Moon and Lottie Absolom.
Gemma moon won her B string long jump 3.68 while Annabel Gibson came 3rd A 4.41, Absolom won her B string high jump and best of the throws came in the Discus Todd taking 2nd A 20.07 and Aimee dickson2nd B 16.11

Oxford League Quadkids Match 3

Team Kennet u9/u11 Quadkids team took a fantastic win at Oxford in the Oxfor
d League at the weekend, the under 11 Girls remain unbeaten all season, wit ha depleted team still racked up 761pts, Zoe Allen came 2nd on the day clocking a fast 11.5 in the 75m a 3.39 in the long jump, 600m 2.01 and 24.40 in the Vortex, Olivia Thomas came 3rd overall with her long jump of 3.52 the best of her 4 events, with Emma Davis 10th overall and Bethany McClean 11th overall  it was enough to win.

The under 11 Boys got back to winning ways James Fenner won the boys outright with a score of 252pts clocking 2.06 in the 600m a good long jump of 3.76 but his Vortex of 38.52 backed him the win., new comer Ivan Chekmazov
came 5th overall his best event the 600m 1.58, Jack Avery took 6th place and Jack Strutt 9th all four boys around 12 seconds in the 75m sprint.

The under 9 boys came 2nd on the day Harry fenner winning this section with 184pts, his long jump was 3.20 and 12.8 in the 75m sprint and a throw of 26.33, Harry Strutt came 3rd overall his 600m clocking 2.13 was his best event and a 24.49 in the Vortex throw.

The under 9 girls came 6th Imogen Cowell coming 10th overall and Zoe Dickson taking 14th

Oxford League Match 3

Team Kennet ended their campaign in the oxford Track and field League with a third place behind hosts Oxford City and Radley, but in front of Banbury, Abingdon, Bicester, Witney and White Horse.

Anna Montagne in the under 17 Women’s High Jump broke the club record as she won with a height of 1.57, she also won the Javelin b string 22.46 which was won by her team mate Pheobe Hoaen with a throw of 39.38, Hoaen had to settle for 4th in the Discus 20.83 and Ellie Armstrong won the B string 18.76, Armstrong later went on to win the Shot 9.47, Montagne ended her day on the Long Jump coming 2nd with a leap of 4.69

The under 15 Girls Sophie Wheadon had a superb day winning her Javelin wit ha throw of 28.64, she won her favoured Discus event 29.37, but had to settle for 2nd in the Shot 8.63, in the same event but B string Amy Russell came 2nd 5.46 and in the Discus B string Annelise Gale came 2nd 15.55, in the Long Jump Annabel Gibson came 3rd with 4.29 and Amy Russell came 2nd in the B string 3.77
The relay quartet of Ellie Kerslake, Izzy kerslake, Amy Russell and Ella Ward came 3rd.
On the track, 100m Izzy kerslake came 4th 13.9 and twin sister Ellie taking 2nd 14.1, the longer 200m sprint Ella Ward came7th and Annabel Gibson 5th B string.

The under 13 Girls best scoring event on the track came in the 1500m Eve Brown coming 4th 5.52.9 and Alanna Smith winning the B string 5.56.0, Aimee Dickson came 4th in the 75m hurdles 13.1, she also came 5th in the 100m 14.8 , new comer lily Apps came 7th in the 200m 33.1 and 4th b string in the 100m 15.4, The Field events best points came from the Javelin Eve Brown coming 3rd with a throw of 21.43 and Alanna Smith taking 2nd B string.

The under 15 boys took full control as always in the throws, Oliver Gregory won his A string Shot 12.21 and discus 32.97, Oliver Ford backing him up in the B string won both his throws the Shot 8.83 and Discus 25.36, Ben East won his Javelin breaking the League record throwing 64.33 and Ford made it a hattrick of B wins 29.92, on the track Ethan Haines just missed the sub 40 second barrier by .4 to win the 300m, an hour later was just edged out in the 200m taking 2nd 24.8 and new comer Jonah Briggs taking 5th B 30.00
The 100m Oliver Gregory won the B string 12.7 and Briggs took 6th in the A string.

The under 17 men saw a double win in the Long jump with Oliver Bazin leaping 5.64 and Jack Cannons 4.53, in the sprints 100m Bazin came 4th 12.9 and Cannons 2nd B string 12.6, the 200m Bazin came 5th 26.1 and Tom Hills 25.7 for 2nd place in the B string.

The under 13 boys best result of the day came from Tom Wells winning the Discus 18.90 and Noah Kemp taking 2nd B string 13.66, Wells then went on to come 3td in the Javelin 18.96 and Seb Simpson taking 2nd in the B string.

Inter Counties

Team Kennets Athletes represented Berkshire at the Inter Counties Match at Horspath in Oxford at the weekend.

Ben East stole the match highlights as he claimed his fourth UK record by breaking his own record in the under 15 Javelin throwing a huge 68.34m breaking the inter counties record making it his 10th different record this year and closing in on the longest ever throw in the world, he won the Javelin by over 10m

Two Third places came in the other throws, Harry Booker throwing 40.96m in the discus and Oliver Gregory 13.12 in the Shot
