Team Kennet secured an excellent second place in the first Wessex Young Athletes  Match held at Basingstoke on Sunday in hot conditions seeing some 30 wins in total on the day.

All the Female sections came second in their age groups, the closest was in the under 17 women, Anna Montagne had a superb day winning the 200m in 27.8, then taking the long jump with 4.71 and having to settle for second in the 300m 43.9. Kira Angell took a win in the high Jump with 1.48 with Bethan Philp 2^nd B string, Pheobe Hoaen won her Javelin 31.46. Ellie Armstrong won her B string Shot with  8.25 and Discus 20.64, Hoaen having to settle for A string third places in Shot 8.39 and Discus 22.00, the 800m saw Anna Pettit take 2^nd place 2.27.6 and Philp matching the place in the B string 2.44.2, which earlier she took second in the 1500m 5.23, Anais Taank came 3^rd in the 100m 14.6 and 2^nd B string in the Long Jump 4.01. The Relay quartet of Taank, Angell, Montagne and Armstrong came 2^nd place.

The under 15 girls were very strong, a double win came in the 1500m Rebecca Thomson 5.26.5 and Georgina Thomson 5.33, another double win came in the Discus Sophie Wheadon throwing 27.66 and Poppy Bladon 19.71, both teamed up again in the javelin to secure 3^rd places, in a strong Shot competition Wheadon had to settle for 3^rd place 8.19 and Chloe Collins 4^th b 7.47. Francesca Young leapt 4.54 in the Long Jump for 3^rd place with Lucy Bennet taking 2^nd B string. The 800m Annelise Gale took 4^th place and Pippa Thomas won the B tring. The 300m Young took a good 2^nd place with G. Thomson 3^rd B string, in the shorter sprints the 200m Bennet came 5^th while Young took 2^nd place 28.6, In the 100m both TK girls were 4^th Bennet and Collins, in the 4x100m relay the girls took 3^rd place.

The under 13 girls saw Annabel Todd win her 800m race by some 75m clocking 2.27.9 ranking her 5^th in the UK, with Lexi Wilmoth taking 3^rd B,  in the longer 1200m Kirsten Fraser had to work hard for her 2^nd place 4.18.3 with Eve Brown taking 3^rd B string 4.37.2, good points came in the 70m hurdles Aimee Dickson coming 2^nd 14.0 and Kirsten Fraser winning the B string 15.7. On the field Lottie Absolom cleared 1.40 to win the High Jump with Lyla Goodwin taking 2^nd B string. Absolom took 2^nd in the Shot 5.80, then a Double win came in the Discus Todd 17.48 and Absolom 16.55, The Javelin Annabel Maclean came 2^nd 13.72 and Alanna Smith won her B string Javelin 12.67.

The under 13 Boys came 2^nd in their match Oliver Humphrey taking 2^nd places in the 100m 14.6 and 200m 29.7, Euan Avery 3^rd in the B string 100m and Ben Fisher 2^nd place in the B string 200m. The 800m saw another two 2^nd places Toby Clark  2.37.5 and Noah Kemp 2.45. Euan Avery won his High Jump of 1.30, while in the Discus Kemp took 3^rd place, the Javelin Humphrey took 3^rd place 25.38 and Kian D’Arcy-Masters taking 5^th place. The Relay quartet taking 3^rd place .

The under 15 boys came 3^rd overall, with a much depleted team than usual,  best points came from the Field events a double win came in the Shot Harry Booker 10.36 and Oliver Ford 8.47, Both teaming up in the Discus for another Double win with Booker just missing the league record and setting a new club record and UK number 1 with 43.11, Ford throwing 21.37, ford made it a hattrick of wins in the B string Javelin 26.73 with Kian Hockaday taking 2^nd in the A string 31.44 , the High Jump saw two 2^nd places Booker 1.45 and Matthew Jones 1.35

The under 17 men also  found the competition tough, two good second places came in the long jump Oliver Bazin 5.55 and Tom Hills 4.91, Toby Thomas won his B string Shot, in the 1500m Lucca Vicaria ran 4.54.8 for 4^th place with Cameron Langley 2^nd B string 5.01.5, Thomas made it another 2^nd in the B string 800m, Hills added a second place in the B string 200m. The relay team had to settle for 4^th place.

Team Kennet had several athletes picked to represent Berkshire in the u13 Inter Counties at Kingston over the weekend, on the day only three could make the trip, Oliver Absolom just missed out on his Discus best to throw 17.91 for 7th place, while in the Javelin Oliver humphries threw just short of his best with a 25.35 for 8th place in a very tight competion. Lottie Absolom took part in the 100m non scoring to clock 14.8,unfortunality her favoured event the high jump (1.47 this year) she is Berks number 3  couldnt take part in this event as the county team could only have two represetitives, where all three girls are ranked in top 12 in the UK.

Team Kennet’s Quadkids team could only finish in 6th place in the final Wessex League match at Andover as the boys were severely depleted.

For the girls, Bethany MacLean topped the yellow vests and came 5th overall with 208 points. Erin Gosney scored 181 with Leilah Gaye 129 and Eloise Ross 128 the other scorers.

For the boys, Harry Fenner’s score of 214 was 6th overall with Joseph Bell 156 the only other boy taking part.

In the Vortex throw, Bethany threw 27.92 (3rd overall) with Erin throwing 20.09 and Eliska Simpson throwing 17.84m for the girls. Harry threw 35.12 to win overall for the boys with Joseph throwing 23.78m.

In the 600m run, Bethany’s 2.04.1 was 5th overall with Erin 2.12.5 and Leilah 2.24.5 for the girls. The boys were close with Harry 2.19.9 and Joseph 2.21.9.

In the 75m sprint Bethany’s time of 11.8s was 3rd overall for the girls with Erin 12.2 and Tillie 12.5 just behind while Harry ran 12.3 and Joseph 14.0 for the boys.

In the Long Jump, Erin 2.99 just pipped Bethany 2.98 with Leilah 2.69 for the girls. Harry’s leap of 3.32m was 5th overall for the boys with Joseph 2.85.

Team Kennet took part in Oxford for the Third Round of the Wessex Young Athletes League on Sunday, with school holidays and apps pinging the club suffered major losses in numbers, but a strong team effort on the day saw the Yellow/Blue vests finish 3rd place.

High light of the day came from George Down in the under 15 Boys long Jump leaping 5.98 to win by over a metre and break the clubs record held for 10 years. The clubs Teams battled well with the under 17 men just being edged out in to second place by just 2pts but keeping them top of the u17 mens league, Oliver Ford picked up a hattrick of wins on the day in the A string winning the discus 39.07, Shot 12.65 and B string Javelin 40.02, The A String Javelin was won by Brandon Carter smashing his best with 40.14. Tom Wells won the B Discus 26.65 and Jonah Briggs taking 2nd B in the Shot. George Mackie picked up B string wins in the High Jump 1.45 and Long Jump 4.72, Matthew Jones taking 2nd A in the high Jump 1.65 and 3rd A in the Long Jump 5.41. The Track saw a few wins Oliver Humphrey remaining unbeaten in the 100m hurdles clocking 15.1, Noah Kemp doubling up in the 1500m 2nd and 800m 4th, in the sprints Jonah Briggs and Oliver Humphreys gained valuable points from their runs.

The under 15 Girls are also equal top of their league, but finished 2nd on the day, but joint leaders also finished second in their match, on the Field the best points came from the Throws, Annabel Maclean winning the discus 24.12 to take her in to top 20 UK rankings and Kirsten Fraser taking B string win 17.73, Another Double win came from middle distance runners in the Javelin Eve Brown 20.71 and Emma Davies 14.28, Maclean had to settle for 2nd A in the Shot with 8.82m, The Track picked up good points Maclean taking 2nd place in the 75m hurdles 14.2, Fraser winning from the front in the 1500m 4.56.8, the shorter 800m Emma Davies taking 2nd 2.32 and Eve Brown winning the B string 2.34.8, Fraser took 2nd A string in the 300m 45.4 and Emma Davies just won the B string clocking 46.9 in a very close race by all athletes. Emily Richardson and Carly Chisholm added points to the clubs tally.

The under 13 girls were also 2nd team lying in 4th place in their league they beat table leaders to put them within one point of the top, The TK throwers are thriving in the club and Suki Humphreys made sure shes in the top UK 20 by throwing 17.47 to win the Discus and team mate Eliska Simpson won the B string 16.96, in the Shot Eliska got the better as both won their Strings 6.73 from Simpson and 6.36 from Humphreys, both teamed up in the Javelin Humphreys taking 3rd A and Simpson making it a hattrick of wins winning the B string 11.92. The High Jump saw Amber Stiles take 2nd place and Bethany Maclean winning the B string. On the Track the first event saw a double win from Ellie Ross and Amber Stiles in the 70m hurdles, a Double 2nd place came in the 800m Stiles 3.02 and Leilah Gaye 3.08. Maclean took 2nd A string in the 200m, while in the 100m improving Ava Brade won with 14.3 and Emelia Lunn 2nd B string 14.9, in the 4 x 100m (Maclean, Lunn, Brade and Stiles) it was down the the last 30m where TK came home 2nd place 60.6.

The under 15 boys came 3rd on the day, with only four club athletes able to take part, George down after winning his Long Jump made sure of a hattrick of wins in the 100m 11.9 and 300m 41.7, Edward Mackie won the B string 100m 13.4 and came 2nd in his 200m A string 27.1 and matching same position in the 300m 46.2. James Fenner had to settle for 2nd place in the Javelin 33.02 , with Seb Simpson 19.66 in the B for 2nd place, Simpson in his favourite event the Discus went out to win with 34.95 and then went on to win the Shot 10.08, Fenner took 2nd B string in the Long Jump. And the 4 of them all teamed up in the 4 x 100m to take the win on the line 54.4

The under 13 boys also only had 4 athletes but also managed 3rd place due to the strength of the four, Harry Fenner won his High Jump 1.25 and the Javelin B string 22.81, William McDonald was 2nd A in the Javelin 23.08, Archie Gordon and James Simmons made up rest of the points and the four of them ran a great 4 x 100m relay to come 2nd place.

Team Kennet had a record number of Athletes picked for the under 13 Inter Counties match representing Berkshire being held at Kingston Athletics Stadium, only 3 athletes were able to go due to holiday commitments that saw the Berkshire Boys team come 3^rd and Girls team 2^nd.

The Boys Javelin both strings were taken by TK athletes, Will McDonald came out to win the A string with a throw of 35.54, in the B string Harry Fenner had to settle with 2^nd place with a personal best of 34.25, both boys are ranked 3^rdand 11^th in the UK.

In the Girls Zoe Dickson came 8^th in the A string Discus 14.83 and also took part in the B string Javelin where she came 4^th with a throw of 14.67.

In a tough match the girls won with ease, Claire Mcgonnell winning the girls section out right winning the Vortex  throw with 29.62, running the 600m in 2.06, her leap in the long jump of 3.42 and a 75m sprint of 12.1. Zoe Allen took 2^nd place overall, usually the clubs highest scorer,  she clocked the fastest 75m sprint on the day 11.5, jumping 3.41 in the long jump, throwing the vortex 26.05 and running fastest 600m on the day 2.01, Octavia Thomas came 4^th overall, sprinting a fast 12.1 in the 75m, but she lept 3.59 to win the long jump outright making it all four events and match score Yellow and blue. Tilly Sideso made sure she got in the action as she came 5^th overall with all scoring girls in top 5, she clocked a fast 11.6 in the 75m, 2.05 in  the 600m. Others Neve Wright, Bethany Maclean, Tillie Bell, Lila Gale, Millie Phillips, Eloise Ross.

The boys came 2^nd in their match, Will Harris coming 2^nd overall setting one of the fastest 75m sprints on the day 11.6 and 2^nd longest vortex throw of 38m, rest of the boys packed well, Jacob Avery clocking 11.8 in the sprint, Eddie Rushmer-Wilson 2.01 in the longer distance, other boys  Brendon Pennicott, Jack Pyke, Charlie Todd, William Appleby, Findlay Mount, Jayden Mansfield.

Team Kennet Athletes came away with a haul of medals from the SEAA U13, U15 and U17 Championships at Lee Valley.

Annabel Todd took Silver in the Under 13 girls 800m with a time of 2.26.46. Charlotte Absolom also picked up a silver medal in the Under 13 girls High Jump clearing 1.39m but her Long Jump of 4.14 failed to gain a medal.

In the under 15 boys, Ben East continued his dominance of the event winning Gold with a throw of 60.17m. Harry Booker picked up a silver medal with a Shot Put of 13.15m which broke the club record. He almost went 1 better in the Discus where his throw of 45.26 (also a new club record) matched the winner’s throw but he got silver on countback based on his 2nd best throw.

In the Under 17 Men’s Long Jump, Oliver Bazin jumped 5.86 to finish 9th.

Ben East stole all the highlights at the Bracknell open Meet at the weekend.
Competing in his first under 17 age group for team kennet Ben threw a massive 67.57m in the javelin to break his coaches club record and straight in to UK all comers top 15 with a convincing win.
Ben was many medal winners for the club.
Phoebe Hoaen couldn’t match last week’s distance in the u17 javelin but struck gold with a 39.45 throw.
Oliver Ford also took a gold with a great shot of 10.04 in the u15 boys he also threw javelin 30.35m and club mate kian hockaday went better throwing 33.49.
In same age group Oliver Humphrey clocked 15.83 in 80m hurdles.
Harry Booker in the u17s struck two bronze medals in the shot 11.02 and high jump 1.55 and Oliver bazin earned himself a bronze in the long jumpb5.59 and ran a 24.99 in the 200m
In the under 13 girls Kirsten Fraser also hit a bronze with a brilliant 600m run in 1.47.49 clocking 14.29 in the 70m hurdles and 3.68 in long jump.
Zoe Allen also struck bronze in the javelin 15.10 and 75m sprint 10.71 and just missed out in the 150m 21.77. Lyla goodwin clocked 11.9 in the 75m
The under 13 Boys Will Harris clocked a fast 75m sprint to earn himself a silver 13.48 in the 75m hurdles and clocked a fast 100m 14.26 and kept 3.53 in the long jump.

William Appleby cleared 1.10 in the high jump for a silver medal and threw 10.41 in the javelin and kept 3.46 in long jump
