Junior Triathlon success

Elodie Burdett was back in action this weekend representing Team Kennet in her 2nd ever triathlon at the Bristol & District Junior event held at Henbury leisure centre. A very strong swim followed by a super slick T1 saw Elodie in the lead half way through the bike leg. Pushing the pace in tricky wet conditions saw Elodie go over the handlebars on one of the downhills. Coming into T2 in last place, she put the hammer down and ran herself up to 3rd with the fastest run split of the day in her age group and just 7s off 2nd place.

Indoor Report London Games

Team Kennet had several athletes take part in the London Games last weekend.

George Down now in the under 17 age group broke the club Indoor record taking it to 6.33m, Oliver Humphrey clocked a fast 8.98s in the 60m hurdles.

Zoe Allen took part in both Track and Field, in the Shot threw 9.85m while on the track 60m time was 9.08s and in the 300m 47.96s.

Josh Ladd’s took part in the u13 boys breaking the clubs 60m record with a 9.33s and also the 200m clocking just over 33s.

South of England Cross Country Championships

Two Team Kennet Athletes braved it down to Beckenham for the South of England Cross Country Championships over the weekend.

Anna Hall in the under 13 age group came 135th  with two more years still in this age group and Emma Davies came 79th in the under 15 girls age group.

Quadkids Oxford League Report

Team Kennet Quadkids got back to winning ways in the first round of the Oxfordshire Young Athletes League held at Horspath on Sunday.

The Under 9 Girls got back to winning ways again Ella Larkin taking overall Individual Spot, she clocked an impressive 600m in 2.13, her Vortex was also good at 19.74m and sprinting the 75m in 13.1, Maisie McCurtin was 3rd girl overall with her best event Long Jump 2.53. Evie Kearney was the clubs third best scorer with her Vortex the best event scoring 15.78 in distance.

Sophie Cox and Megan Jones also took part in the Squad.

The Under 9 Boys came 4th Joshua Kuijten came 6th overall and Edward Shearer 9th

Both the under 11 Girls and Boys came 3rd in their matches Oscar Larkin best placed with 7th overall, his 600m was his best event in 2.03 and also a fast 75m in 12.7 as well as a good Vortex throw of 25.57. Malik Gaye was 11th overall his 75m sprint was his best event clocking 12.4 he also jumped 2.87 in the long jump, Luke Stiles was clubs third scorer his track races saw a 2.11 in the 600m and 13.3 in the 75m and really good long jump 2.95, and the Fourth scorer was Harry Bell his 75m being his best event in 12.5.

Other boys were Ethan Jones, Elliot Bell and Noah Horton.

The girls Section Isla Ladds led the way in 13thher 75m was best of her events in 13 seconds, Jessie McCurtin was next best scorer with her 75m being her best event in 13.3, Then Quinn Joyce with her 600m in a time of 2.14 her best event and making up the team was Harriet Saunders she clocked a 2.19 in the 600m and 13.9 in the 75m.

Other girls Elora Murray Vortex 19.83, Ella McDonald long jump 2.73, Amelia Rehill,  Rosie Bell and Edith Evans also took part

Virtual Club Championships

Team Kennet Athletes took part in a Virtual Club Championships Lock down Challenge in their Gardens, local park or even in the road during mid June.

There were seven events for athletes to tackle, Standing Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, 10m x 10m sprint, Toilet Roll High Jump, Chest Push, Speed Bounce and Overhead behind throw.

Highest age group to declare results were under 11s, Event winners Amber Stiles and Harry Fenner scored well throughout, Amber bouncing 80 times in 30 seconds in Speed Bounce, while Harry best was his Overhead behind throw of 13.60m, William Mcdonald  controlled the jumps by winning these 1.95 in long and 5.56 in triple and even jumping 7 toilet rolls high.

Under 13s saw another good entry Zoe Allen winning the girls with a 2.14 long jump and 6.70 triple jump best of her events, Bethany MaClean bouncing a very impressive 90 speed bounces in 30 seconds, James Fenners 8 toilet roll jumps was his best.

Under 9 age group Isla ladds would of won whole age group, very impressive throwing and another good speed bounce of 70 in 30 seconds boys winner was Luke Stiles with his overhead Behind Throw 7.18 his best event

The Seniors saw Martine Stiles win the females another good speed bounce of 83 in 90 seconds and Steve MaClean winning the male section wit ha huge 20.29 Overhead behind throw. Hayley Steward lept 9 Toilet Rolls on her best event and clocking 27.2 in the 10x10m finishing runner up in the females, male runner up went to Jonjo Stiles his best event 10 x 10m 26.8

Only two girls took part in the under 15s Annabel MaClean came out on top over Aimee Dickson, Maclean jumping 2.14 in standing long jump and bounding 86 speed bounces, Aimee best was Chest push throwing 9.80m

Oxford Cross Country League

Team Kennet’s cross country section were in action on the first weekend of the new year at Horspath in Oxford in the third round of the Oxford Cross Country League, Kirsten Fraser took the best result for the club in the under 13 girls that almost now secures her for a top 3 finish overall, her result also kept the girls in 3rd place in the team standings, Alanna Smith made a welcome return after a serious ankle injury in 19th, with Eve Brown just behind 20th and Maddi Baker 23rd

Nathan Gillis made a rare outing for the club in the Senior mens race, running an excerlent race to come home in 4th place, Bart kuijten was next home in 86th next best scorer.

Oliver Tozer continued his great season to also finish in 3rd place in the under 11 boys putting him 3rd overall in the standings, Ivan Chekmazov came 9th, while in the under 11 girls Zoe Allen pipped on the line for 4th place keeping her 3rd overall in the standings, with Imogen Newby next home in 9th.

Noah Kemp got the better of team mate Toby Clark for the first time this season, finishing 6 and 8th, with Kian Darcy-Masters coming 32nd kept the under 13 boys in 3rd place in the team standings.

in the younger under 9 section Amber Stiles finished 5th, Anna Hall 6th and Loiuse Colby 8th in the girls while Harry Strutt was 9th in the boys

Rebecca Thomson came 7th in the under 15 girls race with Annelise Gale 9th and Emily Tucker 19th.

Luke wild came in 27th in the under 15 boys race.

Oxford League Match 3

Team Kennet ended their campaign in the oxford Track and field League with a third place behind hosts Oxford City and Radley, but in front of Banbury, Abingdon, Bicester, Witney and White Horse.

Anna Montagne in the under 17 Women’s High Jump broke the club record as she won with a height of 1.57, she also won the Javelin b string 22.46 which was won by her team mate Pheobe Hoaen with a throw of 39.38, Hoaen had to settle for 4th in the Discus 20.83 and Ellie Armstrong won the B string 18.76, Armstrong later went on to win the Shot 9.47, Montagne ended her day on the Long Jump coming 2nd with a leap of 4.69

The under 15 Girls Sophie Wheadon had a superb day winning her Javelin wit ha throw of 28.64, she won her favoured Discus event 29.37, but had to settle for 2nd in the Shot 8.63, in the same event but B string Amy Russell came 2nd 5.46 and in the Discus B string Annelise Gale came 2nd 15.55, in the Long Jump Annabel Gibson came 3rd with 4.29 and Amy Russell came 2nd in the B string 3.77
The relay quartet of Ellie Kerslake, Izzy kerslake, Amy Russell and Ella Ward came 3rd.
On the track, 100m Izzy kerslake came 4th 13.9 and twin sister Ellie taking 2nd 14.1, the longer 200m sprint Ella Ward came7th and Annabel Gibson 5th B string.

The under 13 Girls best scoring event on the track came in the 1500m Eve Brown coming 4th 5.52.9 and Alanna Smith winning the B string 5.56.0, Aimee Dickson came 4th in the 75m hurdles 13.1, she also came 5th in the 100m 14.8 , new comer lily Apps came 7th in the 200m 33.1 and 4th b string in the 100m 15.4, The Field events best points came from the Javelin Eve Brown coming 3rd with a throw of 21.43 and Alanna Smith taking 2nd B string.

The under 15 boys took full control as always in the throws, Oliver Gregory won his A string Shot 12.21 and discus 32.97, Oliver Ford backing him up in the B string won both his throws the Shot 8.83 and Discus 25.36, Ben East won his Javelin breaking the League record throwing 64.33 and Ford made it a hattrick of B wins 29.92, on the track Ethan Haines just missed the sub 40 second barrier by .4 to win the 300m, an hour later was just edged out in the 200m taking 2nd 24.8 and new comer Jonah Briggs taking 5th B 30.00
The 100m Oliver Gregory won the B string 12.7 and Briggs took 6th in the A string.

The under 17 men saw a double win in the Long jump with Oliver Bazin leaping 5.64 and Jack Cannons 4.53, in the sprints 100m Bazin came 4th 12.9 and Cannons 2nd B string 12.6, the 200m Bazin came 5th 26.1 and Tom Hills 25.7 for 2nd place in the B string.

The under 13 boys best result of the day came from Tom Wells winning the Discus 18.90 and Noah Kemp taking 2nd B string 13.66, Wells then went on to come 3td in the Javelin 18.96 and Seb Simpson taking 2nd in the B string.
