Team Kennet Athletes took part in a Virtual Club Championships Lock down Challenge in their Gardens, local park or even in the road during mid June.
There were seven events for athletes to tackle, Standing Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, 10m x 10m sprint, Toilet Roll High Jump, Chest Push, Speed Bounce and Overhead behind throw.
Highest age group to declare results were under 11s, Event winners Amber Stiles and Harry Fenner scored well throughout, Amber bouncing 80 times in 30 seconds in Speed Bounce, while Harry best was his Overhead behind throw of 13.60m, William Mcdonald controlled the jumps by winning these 1.95 in long and 5.56 in triple and even jumping 7 toilet rolls high.
Under 13s saw another good entry Zoe Allen winning the girls with a 2.14 long jump and 6.70 triple jump best of her events, Bethany MaClean bouncing a very impressive 90 speed bounces in 30 seconds, James Fenners 8 toilet roll jumps was his best.
Under 9 age group Isla ladds would of won whole age group, very impressive throwing and another good speed bounce of 70 in 30 seconds boys winner was Luke Stiles with his overhead Behind Throw 7.18 his best event
The Seniors saw Martine Stiles win the females another good speed bounce of 83 in 90 seconds and Steve MaClean winning the male section wit ha huge 20.29 Overhead behind throw. Hayley Steward lept 9 Toilet Rolls on her best event and clocking 27.2 in the 10x10m finishing runner up in the females, male runner up went to Jonjo Stiles his best event 10 x 10m 26.8
Only two girls took part in the under 15s Annabel MaClean came out on top over Aimee Dickson, Maclean jumping 2.14 in standing long jump and bounding 86 speed bounces, Aimee best was Chest push throwing 9.80m

Team Kennet Athletes were successful at the London Indoor Track & Field Games over the weekend, in the under 13 girls age groups Zoe Allen came 1st in the Shot with a throw of 8.49 putting her ranked in the top 6 in the UK rankings, she clocked a fast 8.89 in the 60m sprint and also took part in the 200m 29.45.
Clare McGonnell had a very successful day she claimed two new club records firstly in the 800m 2.44.74 and then High Jump 1.25, and then clocking a fast 60m hurdles time of 10.66 seconds.
Oliver Humphrey came out 4th quickest in the under 15 boys 60m Hurdles also claiming the Clubs age group Record in a time of 9.38 seconds
Sportshall Match 3 – 26th January 2020
Sunday was the last sportshall league match of the season, making it the last for Annabel Gibson as she moves to U17. Annabel has competed for Team Kennet in Sportshall since she was 9 years old. In this last match she came 3rd in the Standing long jump with 2.04m and was joined by Aimee Dickson in the 8 lap paarlauf coming 2nd with 99.1sec. Aimee also came 4th in the speedbounce. Annabel and Aimee bought the U15 league competition to close with overall 4th place.
The U11 Girls once again dominated the speedbounce with all 6 competitors coming in the top 8 out of the 42 taking part. Emeilia Lunn came 1st with 52, Emma Long 2nd with 51, In joint 4th with 50 were Millie Philips, Erin Gosney and Imogen Cowell. Close behind was Lilia Gale with 48.
Bethany Maclean and Erin have made a brilliant 6 lap Paarlauf pairing this year and finished with a first place in 77.8sec. Bethany also came 3rd in the foam javelin with 11.5m. Overall in the league the girls came 5th.
The U11 Boys also came 5th overall. Connor Jordan and Ethan Kuijten made a fantastic team winning the 6 lap Paarlauf with 76.3sec. Connor also won the vertical jump with 50cm and took 3rd in the speedbounce with 51. Ethan jumped one more coming 2nd in the speedbounce with 52 jumps. In the foam javelin Joseph Bell came 3rd with 14.75m. The three were joined by Thomas Payne to come 5th in the 4×2 relay.
2019 Road Running leagues were very successful that saw around 60 members take part from 5km to Marathon Distance, Ben Schiffer-Harte took a hattrick of League Division wins to win the top Flight League, while in Division 2 it was a very close affair with top 6 all gunning for the 3 awards, in Division 3 new member George Westall got 3 late runs in to move up to equal 2nd with Paul but as Paul did 4 races he claimed the runner up spot. In the Ladies Cheryl Angell made sure she was going to win from the set and she achieved all race disciplines in the first half of the year, keeping it in the family Daughter Kira tackled the first 3 disciplines to just win League 2

Hayley Steward from Team Kennet earned herself a Silver Medal in the senior women’s Shot in the South of England indoor track and field Championships at Lee Valley throwing 11.31m. She also came 6th in the long jump 5.17m

Team Kennet took part in the last of the series for this years Oxford Cross Country League, held at Henley Show Ground.
One of the best weather conditions over the winter saw a good turnout by the club specially the Juniors, Anna Hall in the under 9s had to settle for a 2nd place in the Girls race but this was good enough to be Crowned under 9 Girls Champion.
The under 13 Boys race saw one of the best races by Team Kennet athletes since taking part with Matthew Nocton coming through strong to win the race on the day, William Chipchase did enough to bring him home in 3rd place, with Ivan Checkmazov 23rd and Oliver Carroll 29th the team were 2nd on the day.
The under 13 girls team came 4th overall just missing out on team medals, Eve Brown came in 9th with Alanna Smith 14th, Emma Davies 17th, Rosie Burridge 27th and Maddi Baker 38th
The under 15s ran well Annelise Gale coming 7th and Emily Tucker 17th in the girls while in the boys Toby Clark 8th and Noah Kemp 17th.
The younger under 11s Elliott Murphy continued from last match coming home in 5th place to finish 4th overall Ethan Kuijten was 13th, Reggie Harder-Scott 16th, Aaron Carter 25th and James Simmons 36th.
The under 11 Girls Imogen Newby was 7th, Leilah Gaye 18th, Amber Stiles 22nd, Lilia Gale 29th
The under 9 Boys saw 8 TK athletes start, Noah Lauder-Clark was 7th, Ben Daley fast improving 8th, Oscar Larkin 10th, Charlie Adams 19, Joshua lads 20, Rueben Kuijten 23, Harry Barnett 25, Thomas Mitchell 28., rest of the under 9 Girls battled well, Jessie McCurtin was 6th, Charlotte Lawton 8th and Mia Kearney 13th
The Senior Women saw the usual two Women Sue Francis 38th and Martine Stiles 100th while the men saw 9 runners with Phil Murphy first home from TK in 35th, Bart Kuijten 83rd, Chris Hall 100, Mark Little 158, Mitch Poustie 174, Andy Waters 186, David Johnston 217, Paul Kemp 218 and Simon Gale 223




Special Awards have gone to the following and a big Special CONGRATULATIONS to these two on getting LIFE MEMBERSHIP and earning their Diamond Award at Team Kennet for 1000 coaching sessions.

Team Kennet’s Nathan Gillis set new records at the weekend in the Men’s 800m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston in America.
Not only breaking the club indoor record, he was the first athlete at the University of La Salle to break 1.50, he came 5th in the race to finish in a time of 1.49.49 ranking him 12th in the UK rankings
Under 11 Sportshall Championship
Sunday was the Sportshall U11 Berkshire Championships. Our teams had some fantastic individual results.
In the U11 boys we had first places from Connor Jordan in the vertical jump with 53cm and second place in the triple jump from Ethan Kuijten with 5.52m. Ethan also came third in the speedbounce with 51 jumps and with Connor in the 1+1 lap (23.5sec). The team of Oli Orr, Thomas Payne, Ethan and Connor joined forces to come 4th in the 4×1 lap and an impressive 2nd in the grandprix after winning their heat by a half lap.
The U11 girls also had several top places. Bethany Maclean got first in speedbounce (54 jumps) and Indoor Javellin (13.75m), finishing her field events with a third in the vertical jump (43cm). Millie Philips came 4th in the highstepper with 14.8s. Zoe Dickson threw the javelin to 5th place with 11.5m. The girls (Leilah Gaye, Erin Gosney, Millie & Bethany) also finished the day with an impressive grandprix, winning their heat but coming second overall by 0.2s.
