SAL Match 3

Team Kennet were in a table top match in their Southern Athletics League match at Winchester on Saturday. The club saw 17 individual wins but could only finish 3rd place in a close match

Most of the wins came from the Women’s section, the field events picked up high points firstly a superb double win came in the Hammer to start the day of with Alisha Bradford throwing 28.44 and Charlotte Booker 28.42, almost at the same time another double was happening in the long jump Hayley Steward 4.99 and Anna Pettit 4.17, Another Double came less than an hour later in the Shot Steward throwing 10.91 and Ellie Armstrong 7.55. The high Jump later on picked up another club double with Kira Angell and Pettit both leaping 1.50. in the triple jump Steward came 2nd with 9.35 and Georgina Bradford 3rd. back in the throws two second places came in the Javelin Pheobe Hoaen throwing 32.69 and Cheryl Angell 13.09, The Discus saw a B string win from Booker 21.77 and a third place in the A string A. Bradford 26.16.

On the track Kira Angell took a fantastic win in the 100m hurdles 18.5 and Bethan Philp won the 2000m Steeplechase 8.16.6, Steward won the B string 400m in 63.7 with Anna Pettit taking 3rd A string 62.9. Both Philp and G. Bradford took 2nd places in the 800m, later she came 4th A string in the 1500m with Hoaen taking 3rd B string. The longer 3k race saw Kate Monk take 3rd place which was matched by Rose Metalli in the B string. In the Sprints Steward earned her self a good 2nd place in the 200m 27.5 Both relay teams also fared well coming home in 2nd places clocking 54.7 in the 4×100 and 4.36 in the 4x400m

The Male side fared well as they were down with quite a few athletes competing in other championships, Luke Angell and Peter Saunders won the double in the Javelin with Angell throwing 53.17 and Saunders 36.36, another Double win came in the Triple Jump Saunders winning 12.54 and Oliver Bazin winning B string with 11.84, both teamed up in the long jump to take 2nd places in their strings. Best other results on the field was Nick Bull in the B string High Jump taking 2nd place 1.35. On the Track Bazin won his B string 100m 12.5, James Hills having to tackle both Sprints coming 4th 12.3 and 25.2 in 100m and 200m A strings. The mens gruelling 5000m both Ben Schiffer-Harte and Mitchell Poustie came 2nd in their Strings.

Berkshire Schools

Team Kennet had 20 athletes  representing their schools at the recent Berkshire Schools Track and Field Championships, Four Club athletes will go on to represent Berkshire in the English Schools Championships in July.

Ben East in the under 15 boys continued his record breaking by smashing the Berkshire Schools record and earning a Gold medal with a throw of 63.56m, travelling with East will be Stuart Bladon in the under 17s clocking 13.8 for 2nd place in the 100m hurdles, Harry Booker u15 throwing 42.35 in the discus winning the Gold and Sophie wheadon also in the Discus throwing 29.06 coming 2nd place.

there were alot of medals won from TK athletes, Ethan Haines won a Silver in the u15 boys 300m clocking 39.7 in his heats and 42.1 in the final, in the same age group Oliver Gregory won a Bronze in the Shot 10.50, the u17 men Oliver Bazin got a Bronze in the long jump 5.84, James Hills won Gold in the Discus 36.02, the u20 age group another Gold came in the Hammer from Charlotte Booker 29.36

Wessex 2 Quadkids

Team Kennet under 11 made sure they won their Quadkids match at Portsmouth on Sunday, The win keeps them top of the table

TK Girls won their section to pull some 200pts clear in their own league, Clare McGonnell was fired up for a great days competition, she scored a huge 239pts to go top of the individual points tally in the girls, and also breaking the clubs record on points. Claires events saw her sprint 11.8 in the 75m, jump 3.59 in long jump, in the 600m clock 1.57.9(fastest time of the day) and threw the vortex 29.87m (longest throw on the day)
Zoe Allen came 3rd on the day clocking the fastest sprint of 11.3 and finished just behind Claire in the 600m clocking 1.58.6 best of her four events. Neve wright came 4th on the day with her long jump of 3.71 helping her to get over 200pts and Octavia Thomas came 5th going under 12 seconds in the sprint and leaping 3.64 in the long jump
The boys Theo Campbell was the clubs highest placed in 4th place with a score of 240 closely followed by James Fenner 231. The boys came 3rd on the day and still lie in top 10 of 25 clubs taking part

Wessex League Match 2

Team Kennet were in action in the second round of the Wessex Young Athletes Track & Field League on Sunday held at a Scorching Portsmouth Mount Batten Centre.

it was a close match for both the Host club and yellow vests of Team Kennet, matching each other throughout the day and ending in a tie on the day

Ben East added another Record to his name as he took the under 15 boys League Javelin record, winning the event with a 61.96 throw. The Boys age group finishing second on the day, The Throws were exceptional, from the club, a joint win came in the shot Oliver Gregory throwing 12.27 to break the clubs record and with Harry Booker throwing 12.01 both making the top UK top 20 Rankings, Both teamed up again in the Discus to make it another Double win Booker throwing 42.31 and Oliver Gregory 35.15 again both boys making the top 30 UK Rankings.
The long Jump saw Booker leap 4.98 for third place and Newcomer Freddie Boyle taking 2nd place in the B string. Kian Hockaday took 2nd place in the B string Javelin.
On the Track the best came in the 4 x 100m Relay, Gregory, Booker, East and Matthew Jones coming home for a fantstic win in 50.6, elsewhere on the track Boyle took a good second in the 80m hurdles, Harry Davis won the B string 300m.

The under 17 men won their age group, oliver Bazin clocking 12.7 for 5th A string in the 100m, and tom Hills winning the B string 12.8, both teaming up in the 200m coming 2nd places with Bazin 24.7 and Hills 25.3.
Stuart Bladon (54.3) and Cameron Langley both won their strings of the 400m.
the 800m races Cameron Langley came 2nd and Toby Thomas winning the B string. Thomas also won the 1500m with 5.00.3
The relay quartet had to settle for second in a photo finish in a time of 49.8
in the Field Bladon 5.65 and Bazin 5.55 both won their strings of the Long Jump.

The under 17 Women also won their match, Pheobe hoaen winning her Javelin with a throw of 38.36 to put her in the top UK top 20 Rankings, in the Shot Ellie Armstrong came 2nd with 10.11 and Hoaen taking a B String win 9.21, Hoaen had to settle for second in the Discus 20.15
A double win came in the high jump from Armstrong and Bethan Philp. on the track, Philp secured two more wins in the 800m and 1500m, in the shorter distances Anna Montagne pulled away in the 300m to win in 42.5 and Caitlin Nowell taking 2nd B string, Montagne had to settle for 2nd place in the 200m 27.0 and Nowell 3rd B string 30.3.
the 4 x100m relay team comprising of Armstrong, Hoaen, Nowell and Montagne came 2nd in 55.5

The under 13 girls came 2nd in their match, Lottie Absolom was the girls outstanding athlete as she broke the clubs high jump record and winning the event with a leap of 1.47m, taking her to Uk Number 6. Her day continued by winning both B strings in the Discus 17.16 and 70m hurdles 13.2
Annabel Todd also had a successful day winning the 800m in 2.31 but taking 2nd in the Long Jump and 3rd in the Discus 18.39 A string.
Tara Hogan won her B string 800m in 2.41, in the longer 1200m both Eve Brown and Alanna Smith took second places in their strings.
The relay quartet came home in 3rd place.

The under 15 Girls came 2nd in their match, in the sprints Izzy Kerslake came within a whisker to take 2nd place in the 100m 13.5 and Lucy Bennet taking 3rd B string 14.0, in the 200m Francesca young took 2nd place 27.6 and Ellie Kerslake 2nd place as well 29.4, the club had several non scorers in the 200m Lucy Bennet clocking 29.1 and Amy Russell 29.6, Ella Ward 30.2.
the 300m both Young and Georgina Thomson had to settle for 3rd places. in the longer distances G. Thomson was the best scorer winning her B string 1500m.
The relay quartet came home in 2nd place in 55.0
On the field Sophie Wheadon took 2nd place in the Shot 10.00, she won the discus with a 30.80 throw to push her in the top 30 UK rankings, and taking 2nd place in the javelin.
Poppy Bladon took second places in the B string Javelin and Discus.

The under 13 boys came 3rd in their age group, the day started well with a great Double win in the 75m Hurdles Thomas Woodrow 16.1 and George Mackie 16.3, Mackie adding a 2nd place in the High Jump 1.25.
the 800m saw good points from the club Toby Clark taking 2nd place and a brilliant run by Noah Kemp to win the B string, later on he went on to win the Discus, with Oliver Absolom taking 2nd in the B string, steady points came in from rest of the boys Ben Fisher, Seb simpson and Kian D Arcy Mastures.

UK Record

Team Kennet’s Ben East threw himself in to history at the weekend at the UK Javelin Festival held at Loughborough. Ben only 14 years old and in the under 15 age group threw a massive 66.17 in the Javelin to break the UK record for the age group, and one of the longest throws in the World, Ben is being coached by Luke Angell also from the club who also has a England Vest in the Javelin says that Ben could throw 70m this season.

Team Kennet also had a few other throwers taking part Pheobe Hoean in the under 17 women throwing 34m and Kian Hockaday in the u15 boys throwing just over 30m

SAL Match 2

Team Kennet took part in the Southern Athletics League Div 3 SW at Poole on Sunday, In Soring Temperatures and Light winds set up a tough match for all four teams, with many club athletes away at Wembly in was going hard work.

The Yellow Vests worked very hard for their second place which saw 20 wins on the day.

Hayley Steward had a great match securing 3 A string wins, firstly in the Shot with 10.13, less than an hour later she took a superb win in the 400m with 63.8, then later on winning the Triple jump 9.66. Anna Montagne also took 3 wins in her A strings, firstly in the Long Jump with 4.96, then did the sprint double 100m 13.2 and 200m 27.3. Bethan Philp made it another A string win in the 1500m Steeplechase in 5.57.5.

There were a few B string wins on the day Caitlin Nowell coming back from injury timed her 400m to perfection to win in 68.2, in the middle distance races Rosa Lawrence won the 800m B 2.43.8 and 1500m Georgina Bradford won the B string with a sprint finish in just over 6 minutes, in the Field Charlotte Booker won the B string discus 23.41 and Deborah Montgomery won the B string Javelin 24.10. Anais Taank won the B string Triple Jump 8.69m. The other win came in the 4 x100m relay in a time of 54.9
there were some good performances in the ladies Pheobe Hoaen making her debut in the league throwing the Javelin 31.42 to finish 3rd A string, Booker throwing the Hammer 30.11 for 3rd place in the A string.

The Mens section a double win came in the Triple Jump with Joe Osler leaping 12.33 and Josh Willock 11.93, other wins came from team manager Nick Bull taking 3 B string wins in the 400m hurdles, 3000m and 3000m Steeplechase, and Simon Hockaday won the 3000m A string.
Josh Willock had to settle for two second places in the sprints as he clocked fast times of 11.5 in the 100m and 23.5 in the 200m, Joe Osler cleared 1.85 in the High Jump for 2nd place in a tightly contested competition, and taking the same spot in the B string Long Jump, Willock having to settle for 4th place with 5.90 in the A string again in a tough long jump competition.

Berkshire Championships

Team Kennet Athletes took a record haul of medals at the recent Berkshire Track and Field Championships at the Weekend held at the Eton Track in Windsor.

The under 15 Boys dominated the Throws, Ben East threw a massive 65.50 to be the UKs second longest all time thrower in the event and smashed the county record to earn Gold, but it was to be a 1-2-3 for Team Kennet as Kian Hockaday took Silver and Oliver Ford taking Bronze.
Another 1-2-3 came in the Shot with Harry booker winning this with 11.10, Oliver Gregory silver 10.44 and Oliver Ford taking Third.
Another county Record came in the Discus where Harry Booker threw 43m and another Silver coming from Oliver Ford, and to make it 4 gold wins out of 4 throwing events Oliver Gregory won the Hammer.

The under 17 age group Stuart Bladon took a convincing win and best time in the 100m hurdles clocking 13.97 and taking a Bronze in the Javelin 43.62.
Oliver Bazin struck twice as he earned himself a Silver in the Triple Jump and Bronze in the Long Jump and Pheobe Hoaen threw 35.71 for a silver in the Javelin.

On the Senior front Luke Angell made a welcome return back to throwing the Javelin throwing 52.27 to take the County Title, Ben Schiffer-Harte took silver in the 400m final and Bronze in the Shot. Newcomer Hayley Steward earned herself a County title in the Javelin and taking Silver in the 400m 63.6 and a Bronze in the Shot 10.18.

Finally Aimee Dickson won a Bronze in the under 13 Quadrathon, all Team Kennet Athletes earned themselves medals which is the first time this has been achieved.

Wessex Quadkids

Team Kennet Quadkids secured top spot in the Wessex young athletes league on Sunday at Basingstoke

In a tough match the girls won with ease, Claire Mcgonnell winning the girls section out right winning the Vortex  throw with 29.62, running the 600m in 2.06, her leap in the long jump of 3.42 and a 75m sprint of 12.1. Zoe Allen took 2nd place overall, usually the clubs highest scorer,  she clocked the fastest 75m sprint on the day 11.5, jumping 3.41 in the long jump, throwing the vortex 26.05 and running fastest 600m on the day 2.01, Octavia Thomas came 4th overall, sprinting a fast 12.1 in the 75m, but she lept 3.59 to win the long jump outright making it all four events and match score Yellow and blue. Tilly Sideso made sure she got in the action as she came 5th overall with all scoring girls in top 5, she clocked a fast 11.6 in the 75m, 2.05 in  the 600m. Others Neve Wright, Bethany Maclean, Tillie Bell, Lila Gale, Millie Phillips, Eloise Ross.

The boys came 2nd in their match, Will Harris coming 2nd overall setting one of the fastest 75m sprints on the day 11.6 and 2nd longest vortex throw of 38m, rest of the boys packed well, Jacob Avery clocking 11.8 in the sprint, Eddie Rushmer-Wilson 2.01 in the longer distance, other boys  Brendon Pennicott, Jack Pyke, Charlie Todd, William Appleby, Findlay Mount, Jayden Mansfield.

Wessex Match 1

Team Kennet secured an excellent second place in the first Wessex Young Athletes  Match held at Basingstoke on Sunday in hot conditions seeing some 30 wins in total on the day.

All the Female sections came second in their age groups, the closest was in the under 17 women, Anna Montagne had a superb day winning the 200m in 27.8, then taking the long jump with 4.71 and having to settle for second in the 300m 43.9. Kira Angell took a win in the high Jump with 1.48 with Bethan Philp 2nd B string, Pheobe Hoaen won her Javelin 31.46. Ellie Armstrong won her B string Shot with  8.25 and Discus 20.64, Hoaen having to settle for A string third places in Shot 8.39 and Discus 22.00, the 800m saw Anna Pettit take 2nd place 2.27.6 and Philp matching the place in the B string 2.44.2, which earlier she took second in the 1500m 5.23, Anais Taank came 3rd in the 100m 14.6 and 2nd B string in the Long Jump 4.01. The Relay quartet of Taank, Angell, Montagne and Armstrong came 2nd place.

The under 15 girls were very strong, a double win came in the 1500m Rebecca Thomson 5.26.5 and Georgina Thomson 5.33, another double win came in the Discus Sophie Wheadon throwing 27.66 and Poppy Bladon 19.71, both teamed up again in the javelin to secure 3rd places, in a strong Shot competition Wheadon had to settle for 3rd place 8.19 and Chloe Collins 4th b 7.47. Francesca Young leapt 4.54 in the Long Jump for 3rd place with Lucy Bennet taking 2nd B string. The 800m Annelise Gale took 4th place and Pippa Thomas won the B tring. The 300m Young took a good 2nd place with G. Thomson 3rd B string, in the shorter sprints the 200m Bennet came 5th while Young took 2nd place 28.6, In the 100m both TK girls were 4th Bennet and Collins, in the 4x100m relay the girls took 3rd place.

The under 13 girls saw Annabel Todd win her 800m race by some 75m clocking 2.27.9 ranking her 5th in the UK, with Lexi Wilmoth taking 3rd B,  in the longer 1200m Kirsten Fraser had to work hard for her 2nd place 4.18.3 with Eve Brown taking 3rd B string 4.37.2, good points came in the 70m hurdles Aimee Dickson coming 2nd 14.0 and Kirsten Fraser winning the B string 15.7. On the field Lottie Absolom cleared 1.40 to win the High Jump with Lyla Goodwin taking 2nd B string. Absolom took 2nd in the Shot 5.80, then a Double win came in the Discus Todd 17.48 and Absolom 16.55, The Javelin Annabel Maclean came 2nd 13.72 and Alanna Smith won her B string Javelin 12.67.

The under 13 Boys came 2nd in their match Oliver Humphrey taking 2nd places in the 100m 14.6 and 200m 29.7, Euan Avery 3rd in the B string 100m and Ben Fisher 2nd place in the B string 200m. The 800m saw another two 2nd places Toby Clark  2.37.5 and Noah Kemp 2.45. Euan Avery won his High Jump of 1.30, while in the Discus Kemp took 3rd place, the Javelin Humphrey took 3rd place 25.38 and Kian D’Arcy-Masters taking 5th place. The Relay quartet taking 3rd place .

The under 15 boys came 3rd overall, with a much depleted team than usual,  best points came from the Field events a double win came in the Shot Harry Booker 10.36 and Oliver Ford 8.47, Both teaming up in the Discus for another Double win with Booker just missing the league record and setting a new club record and UK number 1 with 43.11, Ford throwing 21.37, ford made it a hattrick of wins in the B string Javelin 26.73 with Kian Hockaday taking 2nd in the A string 31.44 , the High Jump saw two 2nd places Booker 1.45 and Matthew Jones 1.35

The under 17 men also  found the competition tough, two good second places came in the long jump Oliver Bazin 5.55 and Tom Hills 4.91, Toby Thomas won his B string Shot, in the 1500m Lucca Vicaria ran 4.54.8 for 4th place with Cameron Langley 2nd B string 5.01.5, Thomas made it another 2nd in the B string 800m, Hills added a second place in the B string 200m. The relay team had to settle for 4th place.

Oxford League Match 1

Team Kennet took part in the first of the Oxford Leagues at the weekend, with a much depleted squad than normal the athletes secured several wins on the day.

In the female section Ellie Armstrong won her shot with a 9.15m throw, and later coming second in the High jump. Sophie Wheadon in the under 15 girls secured a wis,  in the Discus 25.11, and two second places in the Shot and Javelin, Chloe Collins won her B string Shot. Francesca Young made a welcome return  to finish 2nd in the long Jump 4.34 and pick up a massive  best time in the 300m for 3rd place 45.4. Rebecca Thomson came 2nd in the 1500m A string with twin Sister Georgina taking a B string win, in the Shorter 800m Annelise Gale took 3rd place. The sprints saw Ellie Kerslake finish 3rd 14.6 and Chloe Collins coming 2nd in the B 15.0, both teamed up in the 200m finishing 5th and 3rd. The under 13 girls started the day with a win from Amiee Dickson in the 70m hurdles 14.4. Kirsten Fraser had to settle for 3rd in the 1500m and Eve Brown took the B string win, the Shorter 800m a superb run from Annabel Todd won by nearly 100m in a time of 2.31.3, Todd came 3rd in the Shot, the Discus Dickson came 3rd A and Charlie Pennicott 2nd B.

The boys saw a very low turnout, In the under 13 boys 800m two third places came from Noah Kemp and Kian Darcy-Masters, on the field Oliver Ford came 2nd in the Shot, taking first place in the Discus, and Kian Hockaday coming 2nd in the Javelin.
