Team Kennet Athletes Shine in Berkshire Colours

Four Team Kennet athletes proudly represented Berkshire at the South East Inter Counties Championships, competing against some of the region’s best young athletes and producing a series of excellent performances.

Leading the way was Orlagh Stratford, who continued her outstanding season in the U14 Girls High Jump. Clearing 1.50m, Orlagh equalled her personal best to secure 2nd place in a closely contested competition, with the top four athletes all clearing the same height.

In the throwing events, Isla Ladds enjoyed another memorable day. Competing in the U14 Girls Discus, she produced a best throw of 28.85m to finish 3rd overall and 2nd in the B String. Impressively, Isla had only landed back in the UK from New York at 7:00am before competing later that day. She also achieved a new Shot Put personal best of 7.74m, rounding off an excellent all-round performance.

On the track, Maisie McCurtin lined up in a strong U14 Girls 1500m field, recording a time of 5:19.76 while gaining valuable experience competing at county level against some of the South East’s top athletes.

There was also another personal best for Ella McDonald, who threw 29.25m in the U14 Girls Javelin. Her performance saw her finish 11th overall and 6th in the B String, continuing the steady progress she has shown throughout the season.

To have four athletes selected to represent Berkshire at one of the region’s premier county competitions is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work and dedication shown by the athletes and their coaches.

Congratulations to Orlagh, Isla, Maisie and Ella on their performances and for representing both Berkshire and Team Kennet with pride.
