Ben East Finishes Eighth at the Commonwealth Games


Team Kennet’s Ben East has produced the finest performance of his career to date, finishing 8th in the Men’s Javelin Final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Representing England against a world-class field, Ben opened his campaign in the qualification round with a superb throw of 80.38m, comfortably securing his place in the final and earning the opportunity to compete for Commonwealth honours.

Returning for the final, Ben went even further. His best throw of 81.12m not only improved on his qualification performance but also saw him finish 8th in the Commonwealth, capping off an outstanding championships against some of the world’s very best javelin throwers.

The performance is another major milestone in an exceptional season for Ben, who has continued to establish himself among Britain’s leading javelin athletes. Reaching a Commonwealth Games final is an achievement in itself, but to improve in the final and secure a top-eight finish demonstrates the quality, consistency and determination that have become hallmarks of his performances.

Everyone at Team Kennet is immensely proud of Ben and everything he has achieved. To see a Team Kennet athlete competing—and thriving—on the Commonwealth stage is a fantastic moment for the club and an inspiration to the next generation of athletes.
