Road Running


Road running is a core part of Team Kennet, with members taking part in local leagues, county championships, parkruns and open road races throughout the year. Whether you’re racing regularly or using events to support your training, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

How you can get involved

Team Kennet runners compete in a wide range of open road races across the region and beyond. If you’re interested in league racing, championships, or using road events to support your training, get in touch or speak to a coach at a session. For national fixtures, licensing and event listings, please refer to RunEvents.

Road Running League

Team Kennet competes in the local road running league each year, with team and individual results recorded by season.

Greenham Parkrun

Greenham is based at Greenham Common and is supported by Team Kennet. Many members already attend parkruns in places such as Basingstoke, Swindon, Andover and Reading. Having a local event in Newbury provides a regular option for speed work or a relaxed weekly run.

Berkshire County Road Running Championships

Berkshire Athletics Road Running Championship races are incorporated into scheduled road races staged in, or as near as practicable to, the county. For 2026, 5 races are nominated covering distances from 5 km to half-marathon.

In addition, runners are invited to submit times for any certified marathon that they run between 1st March and October 31st to [email protected], where they will be collated and points & medals awarded at the end of the season. The races for the 2026 Championship the:

For each race, medals will be awarded for the first three finishers in each age and sex category, with points also awarded for the overall Championship Trophy. For the points championship, the best 5 scores will count (from a possible 6 races). Results will be published on the Berkshire Athletics website, with links also published to the Berkshire Athletics Facebook page. Medals and trophies will be presented at the Berkshire Athletics AGM which is held in November.


How to enter the Road Running Championships?

You only need to enter the Championship once per year, and your results will be picked up and included in the championship for all the races that are held after the date of your championship entry. Questions relating to eligibility and championship rules are covered below, but if you have any questions please email [email protected].
