Fun, energetic and team-focused athletics for young athletes — and a brilliant way for families to become part of the Team Kennet community.

The Perfect First Step Into Athletics

What is QuadKids?

QuadKids is a fun athletics format where young athletes take part in four events: a sprint, a longer run, a jump and a throw.

Every performance scores points, meaning every child contributes to the team. It rewards effort, teamwork and all-round development — not just winning.

Why it works so well

  • Ideal for beginners
  • Builds confidence and fitness
  • Encourages teamwork
  • Develops running, jumping and throwing
  • Creates a positive first experience of athletics
  • Helps young athletes find what they enjoy

More Than Just Sport

QuadKids helps children grow in confidence, make friends and learn skills that go beyond athletics.

1

Confidence

Children learn to challenge themselves, try new events and take pride in their own progress.

2

Teamwork

Every athlete contributes. QuadKids encourages children to support each other and celebrate team success.

3

Opportunity

QuadKids can be the start of a journey into track and field, cross country, endurance running, throws, jumps and more.

“Every Wednesday session only happens because people give their time to make it possible.”

We Need More Volunteers

For our Wednesday evening sessions to run safely and effectively, we need a strong team of volunteers each week.

Our current volunteers are incredibly loyal and have given a huge amount of time to support the club, but as numbers grow, we now need more parents and helpers to step forward.

If we do not have enough support, we may have to limit session numbers. More volunteers means more children can take part safely.

You do not need athletics experience. You do not need to commit every week. Even helping occasionally can make a massive difference.

How You Can Help

There are lots of simple ways to support QuadKids and Wednesday training.

  • Helping groups move safely between activities
  • Supporting coaches during sessions
  • Timekeeping and recording results
  • Helping with equipment
  • Assisting at QuadKids events
  • Becoming a future coach, official or team manager

No Experience? No Problem.

Many volunteers start by simply offering to help. From there, the club can support people who want to learn more, gain confidence or take the next step into coaching, officiating or team support.

Flexible Support

Help when you can. Even occasional support makes a real difference.

Full Guidance

You will not be expected to know everything. We can guide you and help you get started.

Real Impact

Your support helps keep sessions safe, active and open to more young athletes.

A Pathway Into Team Kennet

For many children, QuadKids is the first step into club athletics. It helps young athletes discover events they enjoy and gives families a welcoming introduction to the club.

From QuadKids, athletes can progress into wider Team Kennet training groups and competitions as they grow in confidence and experience.

A Community Built By People

Grassroots athletics depends on volunteers. Parents, coaches, officials and helpers all play a part in creating opportunities for children across West Berkshire.

By getting involved, you are helping to protect and grow the future of athletics at Team Kennet.
